Abhishek Raghuram valedictory concert Kalavanta 2014

The youth talent festival and competition conducted by Karnataka Fine Arts Council in Gayana Samaja concluded after 14 concerts by forty young performers. In the valedictory there were three top talent prizes awarded by the judges panel consisting of Vid MS Sheela, Vid Suri Babu, Vid AV Anand and Vid Krishnamurthy. Vid Sheela spoke of their evaluation process and the participants and audience fully shared the sense of exuberance at the conclusion of a great talent festival with participation also by Shaale Live and AIR Amrita varshini.

The prize winners were Apoorva Krishna (her solo violin beat more than a dozen vocalists!) Vittal Rangan violin and NC Bharadwaj mridangam.

Then followed a 90 minute concert of Abhishek Raghuram accompanied by HK Venkatram and Arjun Kumar.

The choice of songs and the style of presentation created the right mood for the talented musicians in the audience apart from people like me. The treatment of Janaranjani and Gowri Manohari were fabulous and I noticed that Abhishek modulates his voice (in excellent fettle today) to great effect. The Dhanyasi song was a delightful
surprise. HKV presented a fine Gowri Manohari. Arjun Kumar played a sparkling tani in the five beat cycle to everyone's great appreciation.

Apoorva Krishna's concert is on Day 2 , first concert. Almost all other concerts are also very good like Sriranjani santhanagopalan's, Nandini's, Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath's and so on.

Vaani Arul Purivaay - is a very beautiful fast paced tamil song in Dhanyasi raga. No one ever sings this song and it's really amazing that Abhishek knows this song and has sung it too.
The only recording i heard is that of N C Vasantakolkilam singing this song in one of her cassettes.
