Vidwan R.K.Padmanabha is one of the most senior and popular vocalists in Karnataka. Having trained over 1000 students, he is also one of the most sought-after and respected teachers. Known for his excellent communication skills, he has taken Carnatic music to the common man in several remote corners all over Karnataka using the medium of group renditions (ghoshti gayana), in addition to music courses and workshops. He has also organized unique classical music events to support social causes, like a "Protest Concert" to demand improved roads in rural Hassan, and a "Sing-athon" down Bannerghatta Road in Bangalore, accompanied by his students and people from various walks of life. A largely self-taught musician, he is also an accomplished Vaggeyakara with numerous compositions to his credit, and is the only one to have composed Kannada songs in all 72 Melakarta ragas. He has popularized several compositions of Guru Vadiraja, of whom he is an ardent devotee, and has also composed the “Vadiraja Namavali”. Ranjani Fine Arts continues to share a special relationship with Vidwan Padmanabha, who inaugurated RFA in March 2012, and also performed at RFA's first Anniversary concert.
