Thanks for the link. I am studying and researching on 'Saamagana in Vedas and Principal Upanishads'- the roots for classical art music in India. One of the interesting information I found that in the names of line of teachers- The first two teachers were-Sanaga and Sanatana and the last is Pratyandina. Is it is possible that when classical art music developed from Saamaveda and Saamagaana, Sa in Shadja and Pa in Panchama was named after these teachers? Reference to ancient instrument is made as 'lambara', may be earliest form of Veena.

Tamil Isai Sangam & pioneers like Sangita Kalanidhi Dr.S.Rmanathan -He had done ENORMOUS RESEARCH, discussed with Thamizh Thatha U.V.Swamainatha Iyer- & given LEC/DEMS in Sabahas like Saraswathy Vaggeyakara Trust etc which are available. Once in a while in Places like Hindu these kinds of articles APPEAR & NOTHING ELSE IS DONE. This is because of OUR INABILITY to document as well as educate the public. SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS.......VKV :))

VKV Sir

Why not work for instituting a Chair for Tamizh Pann and Carnatic Music in the Music University in Chennai for a serious research, study and publication?
We do have many artists with Doctorate in Carnatic Music and a worthy researcher with proven credentials can become the Chairperson. If the idea is good, it should be discussed with Vid.E-Gayathri, Vice-Chancellor of Tamizh Music University, Chennai on all the relevant matters connected with this.

Dear Sri Muni Rao,
After 60 years of efforts on others& my part I have found out that one has to spend his OWN MONEY to further any ideas. At 80, I have concluded that if the TWENTIETH CENTURY GREATS- MUSICIANS AS WELL AS COMPOSERS are NOT FORGOTTEN that may be the ONLY PRACTICAL CONTRIBUTION I can make as a Retiree w/fixed income....VKV :-ss
