Rajani - very nice to see you!
I remember looking at *mata* and wondering if the original sanskRt text was written in tamizh script before being transcribed in the modified script used here!

Thanks Lakshman ji anf Rajani ji
Beautiful song this one.
Are you sure it is on Parvathi - because of few reasons am asking this question 1. is the attribute of Sakala Kala Vasate and 2. Kamakoti Peetha Madhyagathe (Maamavatu Sree Saraswati Kamakoti peetha nivasini - Mysuru Vasudevachar krithi) and 3. mention of bramha in bramha kapale
karadhrta Bramha Kapale - what is the meaning of this phrase, rather funny to image someone holding Brahma's skull in their hand (translating litterally from what i know of Sanskrit).

Re: Lyrics Lalite Mampahi Daya
HariShankar Sir :
Lalila/Parvati is often described as the Goddess of arts, as seen in many names in the Lalita Sahasranama (Kalavati, Kalalapa etc.)
It is Shiva who is often described as the one holding Brahma's skull, as He cut off one of Brahma's (then) five heads, and used the Kapala as his begging bowl. His name Kapali is also from this. Parvati , seen as indistinguishable from him is described similarly , but not often. One example that comes to mind is vers 8 of the Abirami Antadi. See the translation here:
( http://www.appusami.com/HTML/htmlv101/m ... nglish.asp)
As for Kamakoti Peetha , goddess Kamakshi too is Parvati's form only. The line from Vasudevachar's Kriti has always puzzled me. Hope someone can clarify.

Re: Lyrics Lalite Mampahi Daya
Could it have anything to do with the fact that the peetAdhipathis of the Kanchi mutt are designated with the title as name followed by Saraswathi. ?

Re: Lyrics Lalite Mampahi Daya
Yes truly very confusing,
But i read the lyrics again and i think 'Kula Shaila Suthe' must mean Parvathi only as Parvathi is called Shaila Puthri etc, etc,
Can we confirm basis on the above phrase that this song is in praise of Goddess Parvathi.
