libmohan,
Thank you for posting this. I knew he was going to be in the US for a few weeks. Good to see his schedule (you will inform rasikAs about other concerts which may get added on to these).

It was a pleasure listening to him at Cleveland!

There are very few concerts that I have heard where Suryaprakash is accompanied by HN Bhaskar. Best wishes to the team of Vijay, HNB, deepa and Suryaprakash

Ramesh, just want to draw your attention to the third concert in the tour, says Sunday, May 11th in Portland, Oregon.. Are you in the LA area making it too far?

Just noticed that Vijay Ganesh, a DC area mridangist has been booked for the entire tour! Good luck to him.

Oh thanks, Ranganayaki. I should have my vision checked.
No, I'm in Northern California, but Portland is still too far. 10+ hour drive.

Waiting to hear from someone who went to his Texas concert.
Meanwhile, hope we get to hear about at least one of his concerts this weekend :)

I already knew about his program in Tampa on May 17. Also Rajesh has been kind enough to send me a note about this. I will try to attend the concert, if I can find some one to drive me the 105 miles each way to Tampa from the northern suburb of Orlando,FL where I live. I have listened to his concerts many times in December season in Madras and I do like his delivery.

Sundara Rajan,
I do hope you can make it to one of the concerts at least! Hope someone from your vicinity is going. As you know, the thing about Surya's music is that even those who like music but stay away from CM, can appreciate his music. Like his parama guru MMI, he has that kind of appeal. His voice and clearly enunciated lyrics are capable of drawing many of them to his music. So, you may be able to encourage some folks from your medical fraternity (am I right in thinking you are a physician?) to go to the concert. They are bound to like his singing!

Thank you Arasi for your persuation. "karumbu thinna cooliyA ?" As I mentioned before, I have listened to Suryaprakash several times over the years and he is one of my favorite artists, as is his Guru and was his GurupithAmaha, MMI. I was fortunate to attend at least a dozen of MMI's live concerts between 1948 and 1960 in Trichy and in Coimbatore before I moved to the U.S. Unlike TVS, whose repertoire is limited and hence his concerts seem to be repetitive, Suryaprakash keeps expanding his repertoire like his contemporary young artists. I enjoyed listening to his AbyAmba ammA in KalyANi and his RTP in Bhairavi, which were new to me, during the Cleveland festival last month.
I have found that his concert in Tampa is from 2:00 to 5:00p.m., which means I will be able to drive back home before nightfall. Even at 81, I have no problem driving during daylight hours. But my wife won't trust me to drive at night, since oncoming vehicles' headlights bother me, even after cataract removal. No, I am not a Physician. I earned my Ph.D. in Chemistry here about half a century ago, almost an "alchemist". My wife keeps reminding me " you are not a real doctor ", whenever I advise her to take her medications !

Happy to hear from you, Dr.Sundara Rajan :)

I did know that you were partial to Suryaprakash's singing. That's why I was keen that you should try and be there. Good to know you still drive long distances. I'm glad his concert in Tampa is not a begin-late, end-late kind of program and that you and your wife can drive back home before dark after the concert.

So, you listened to his Cleveland concert also! I agree that it was such a good one.
Please write about the Tampa concert.

You came to Neela Ramgopal's Arasi CD release a few years ago, even though you had just arrived in India. You made it to the event, and I barely had time to chat with you except to say hello amid all the bustle :(

Have a good time listening to Surya :)

Namaskarams to all. I am simply ovewhelmed by all your affection, asirvathams and your following my current tour of the USA closely. I always look forward to your knowledgeable and articulate presence at my concerts.

I now write this to make a humble request to you to avoid posting comparisons of my music with that of my revered Guru Sangeetha Kalanidhi Shri.TVS. It is quite natural for any artiste to delve deep into the music of many Masters and grow into a musician in his own right, imbibing droplets from the gigantic oceans. I will always look up to Guru, the ocean, with respect and gratitude without whose blessings I wouldn't be a performing musician with success. I am very fortunate to have also the blessings of the Parama Guru, even though I was not even born in his time.

Shri.TVS sir is one of the deepest oceans in terms of repertoire.

with regards

Suryaprakash (your Surya)
