Anai ayyA
Very very less is known about Anai Ayya Iyer Brothers, other than their flagship krithi "intA parAkA" in nAdanAmakriya popularized by semmangudi . To an extent their other krithi "ethanai thAn vitthai katralum enna, piraman ezhuthai vella" in Anandabhairavi is a very melting number.
Is anything known about the composer other than the contents of this url

You said in TMK's thread that T Viswa has rendered the anandabhairavi krithi , do you have the recording or do you pointers to the same?
Lji,
Can we get the lyrics of this anandabhairavi krithi "ethanai thAn vitthai katRalum"?

very happy to see about anai ayya.I have few other compositions of him, like, amba nannu brovave-todi,sharanu sharanu-janjhooti,bhajana seyave-kedara,mahima teliya tarama-shankarabharana, Anai &his brother Ayya were in the court of sarfoji 2nd.[1800-1832]. maha vaidyanatha iyer belongs to his SHISHYA PARAMPARA, i think.---Shreekantham nagendra shastry.

Vidhi Illarku in Kharaharapriya I think is also a composition of the brothers, if I'm not wrong. Masterpiece

I understand that 26 Tamil songs and 12 Telugu songs created by Anai Ayyar and Ayyavayyar are included in this publication:-
'Compositions of Anai-Ayya brothers', compiled by T. Viswanathan & T. Sankaran, edited by Karaikudi S. Subramanian, and published by Brhaddhvani, Madras, in 1990.

Anai Iyah
I could not find a thread on this composer..
Anai Ayya - These are really two brothers named Anai Aiyar and Ayyavaiyer. They were patronized by the Tanjavur Marattha king Serfoji III (1800-1832). Well versed in music and scholars in the southern languages, they hail from a small village near Tanjavur called Vaiyacheri. Anai Ayya's cousins were Doraisvami Iyer who was the father of Maha Vaidyanatha Iyer. They almost always sang as a pair. Their compositions carry the mudra Umadasa since they were worshippers of Devi. Along with songs praising the dieties Mangalambika of Vaiyecheri and Dharmasamvardhani of Tiruvaiyaru, they also composed songs on God Agastishvara and Pranatartihara. A few of the songs deal in philosophical subjects like jnana and vairagya. Invariably the songs are in Telugu and Tamil. The ragas that they used were the popular ones but they favored the roopaka tala. Some of their well-known songs are Intaparaka in naadanaamakriyaa, Bhajana seyave in kEdaaram and Amba nannu brovave in tODi, Mahima teliya tarama in shankaraabharaNam and Parakela bala in reeti gowLa.

Re: Anai Iyah
Is Inta Paraaka in raga Mayamalavagowlai or Nadanamakriya?
Are they related in anyway to Krishnaswami Ayya who wrote the prolifc composition Amba Paradevata (Rudrapriya)?

rajeshnat, here is the link to T.Viswa's rendering of 'ethanai dAn vidhai', ananda bhairavi:
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/0307jun ... TViswa.mp3
Also, for those who are interested, here are the links to Veena Dhanammal's rendition on the veena and voice of 'mahima teliya taramA', sankarAbharaNam and T.Brinda's renditon of 'sharaNu sharaNu' in chenjurutti. All three are compositions of Anayya.

Veena Dhanammal's grandmother Kamakshi learnt their songs from Anayya themselves. That's how their compositions have come down to the Dhanammal family.
