An excellent concert by R&G , despite deafening sound volume being kept for both the sisters . Hope the sisters or the mike men adjust the sound well in the future. GAyathri started the concert with crisp atanA rAga alApanai and gave a good start. janaranjani was good. A very good alApanai by ranjani and an excellent rendition and swaram followed for the masterpiece of Neelakanta Sivan's poorvikalyAni. Flashes of SSI everywhere.
DwijAvanthi was ok, marukelarA was unbearably loud and deafening as both of them took together throughout. The best of the concert was the rAga alApanai of MadhyamAvati by GayAthri ,she efforlessly soaring to the upper sthayi is a delight to watch. I heard a very slight tinge of Brindavana sAranga though for some time. Neraval was good and swarams were just ok.
The fast rAgamaligai had four rAgas , it was very nice but I didnot catch even one.The last abhang in lalith was excellent, one has to give credit to these sisters as they know how to finish very well.
Arunprakash played good, tani being ok.At times his dharna in dwijAvanti gave me an
impression as though the sisters were practicing at home. The young girl charumathi was excellent and she always plays with a very good nAdham and continuity. I liked her poorvikalyAni a lot.

That is interesting. Are you sure it is DKP? I somehow cannot imagine her singing a Hindi bhajan. Would you have an audio clip?rshankar wrote:DKP was one of the first to render tulsidAs' 'jAnaki nAth sahAy karE tO kaun bigAd karE nar tOrE?' on the concert stage - and she renders in lilting yamankalyAn...
