Re: Madhuradhwani LEC DEM
The programme was delayed by around half an hour due to power failure.
Though the speaker introduced the listeners about the various genre of Western music and how Sri Dikshithar incorporated into his Nottu-Svara Sahityams, there was not much thrust given onto the musical aspect of those pieces.
Though the speaker wants to popularise these sahityams (and also gave a "phalasthuthi" saying children learning these compositions will develop a good sanskrit diction, interest into our music system etc...) and paid homage to Dikshithar, he surprised the audience with an invocation song Guruguha sarasija, a nottu svara sahityam sung in Yamuna kalyani (which is to be sung in Shankarabharanam).
A very apt homage to the divine composer.
