Attended this concert. I like this venue - it has a warm and compact feel to it.
As regards the concert, it had too much TMK hangover unfortunately but he is a good musician in the making definitely.
But he really needs to work on two things in my opinion: one, come out of the TMK hangover (tough since he is his student) and second improve his sruti nyaanam - it was all over the place according to my (untrained) ears.

glad i chanced upon this post now. i generally go straight to the kutcheri reviews section but decided to check out old posts on the general discussions forum. i am an ardent fan of sri rithvik raja and sri ramakrishna murthy who both seem to have the best shruthi nyaanam and aesthetic musical sense in this present generation of young carnatic musicians. though i was not present at the venue for this particular concert, a fine video recording of this concert was made available on madhuradhwanis website for almost a month or two after the concert and it was a superb one with perfect shruthi alignment. i still remember the chintayamakanda in bhairavi with such amazing and evocative neraval and swarams at mangalakara and the majestic thodi. not many can sing like that at this age. given that sri tmk's brand of music is now something that none of us have ever heard before, sri rithvik raja's music that was once his gurus brings back old nostalgia which none of his other students seem to have captured in its whole. his hand gestures at times might remind you of sri tmk but listen to his music. to me atleast to my (untrained) ears it sounds his own. i suggest you give it another good hearing before criticising. just my humble opinion.
