Priya Sisters at Mylapore Fine Arts Club

Scintillating concert by Priya Sisters ! As part of Bhakti sangeet Utsav, priya sisters presented a lively concert. E njoyed it a lot. The theme was Vanamaali. All the songs were on lord Krishna. The concert was superb. But mylapore fine arts club needs a complete overhaul. Very hot venue with only few coolers here and there even Priya sisters were feeling the heat. Wiping their faces frequently still they pulled off a great concert. Kudos to the duo. Parking problems add to the agony. This was my first time at this venue and i dread going there again. There was a good attendance but all were sweating. Wish the club makes listening to concerts a pleasurable experience. Hope to read a detailed review.

Being Bhakthi utsav, I presume, the songs were rendered sans alapana, swarams right?

In the name of adding air conditioning lots of halls are adding more throat problems for singers and giving aggravated bronchitis for free to rasikas because of poor maintenance of ac ducts (sin of not paying any money for concerts) .Also at times artists and rasikas are getting frozen with the AC cold. Also some sabhas after they overhaul with extra cushion and AC goes out of radar for many of the perennial sabhas(a case of PS High School and nadopasana) .

I think it is ok to get bit more sweat - that adds more health . May be MFAC has to have distributed speakers instead of 3 decker speakers which are placed in the front.We only need sound overhaul may be an extra pair of table fans for the artists.

Very nice concert by Priya Sisters - lots of bhakthi and lots of sukhanubhavam.
The song Kannanai Kaanbadeppo was very good and also the Mohanam song Bala Gopalakrishna Pahi of Narayana Teerthar.

The shlokam sung in Ahir Bhairav (Chakravaham) was very good, this raga is rarely used for vrittams or slokas but Vidushi Shanmughapriya sang it very well.

Any audio recordings available of the Mohanam song Bala Gopalakrishna Pahi ?? I really like what they did with one of the charanam lines singing it continuosly in higher and higher sthayis without losing tempo or pausing - it was not neraval; wonder what this technique is called??. I think in Kuchipudi dance they sing the songs like that.

Thanks Shreedarshan, i did hear this concert on youtube and only after that i wrote my comments.
I want to know if the rendition of the song Bala Gopalakrishna Pahi is available from some other singer in youtube or sangeethapriya or kuchipudi dance version etc., etc,
Anyone knows please help.

IIRC, Thrissur Brothers also sang the same song in the same festival. That concert also is available in youtube. Pl check. Their concert was brilliant.
