Re: Guess the Legend
The clues I heard.
1) very unassuming
2) scholar and intellectual
3) Wanted others to be like that as well
4) Simple man
5) Passed away young
I see Harishankar fits these clues too.

Heedful Indeed, Nick!Nick H wrote: I think people missed this rather important snippet?
Parivadini, tell us more!
A documentary on the Genius Ganjira Player, other than the fact that this is a well researched documentary in the pipeline almost ready for release this also marks the directorial debut of Sairam Mahadevan(rasikas nick - sairaam),the Co-Director.
A mrudangam student himself, Sai has been working on this ably guided by his brother Gamakam.
We are as excited and look forward to this as much as you folks.
Please do keep an eye on this, and feel free to be pretty shameless when it comes to sharing and spreading about such work.
Cheers
Venkat

That is nice , best wishes on the directorial debut. gamakam's research and your directorial touch will be soon one of its kind . There are many who go gA gA with Harishankar and this is just wonderful initiative.

Wow. What wonders you people are bringing us with the PSP research, book, DVD, work on others of the time, and now this.
(English subtitles would be the cherry on the cake for me)

Parivadini team - Venkat, Gamakam, and now Sairam - Congratulations! To paraphrase Nick, yeoman service indeed!
A request - to go on top Nick's - why don't you take a page out of Sri Sadasivam's book, and make your documentaries and other output in both tamizh and English? - will certainly get you more exposure, and can reach more people (not to mention the possibility of catching the eyes of the 'powers that be').

Re: Guess the Legend
Thanks everyone.
Been working on this for more than 4 years. Few datas are pending, otherwise we are good to work on it.
Please send your opinions and do share any rare photos/audio/video of Harishankar sir, other than what is available in youtube and other sites.
And thanks to Parivadini, we have decided to release it in youtube, rather than as a commercial DVD. Hopefully it comes out good.

Re: Guess the Legend
I have talked to Gamakam about the PSP book, which, obviously, I would love to see in English. He told me that it is easier to get a translation from English to Tamil published than a translation from Tamil to English.rshankar wrote: why don't you take a page out of Sri Sadasivam's book, and make your documentaries and other output in both tamizh and English?
Addiing subtitles to a video is, I suppose, less demanding than publishing a whole new book. If it doesn't happen, then I am sure there will still be plenty of very consumable stuff (as there is in the PSP DVD) even for non-Tamil speakers.

Re: Guess the Legend
Agree that the subtitles are much easier to execute than getting a translation published. In fact, the S.Rajam DVD that Co Directed have subtitlesin English. I didn't have the time this time around to write the subtitles for the PSP DVD.
