My suggestions are:
1. "AMS Easy Methods" in learning and practicing Carnatic Music by Sri Akella Mallikarjuna Sharma, Hyderabad.
2. "Writing of Carnatic Music compositions for orchestration and its presentation" by Shri Rajkumar Bharati, Sri Ilaya Raja, Sri A.R.Rahman and Sri Praveen Rao, Bengaluru
3. "Contemporary composers compositions in Carnatic Choir" by MBS Madras Choir-taking Carnatic Music to uninitiated rasikas for CM appreciation and outreach.
4. "Film Music compositions-classical & popular based on Carnatic Music, in classical and pure form of Carnatic Music" -by Sri Sriram Parasuram and Smt.Anuradha Parasuram.

Parivadini,
I feel that there are not sufficient resources to understand the width and depth of Carnatic compositions, which are presented in Carnatic concerts. One way is to format it more like a discussion among say 3 leading musicians (vocalists and instrumentalists) who can take up a raga or a theme and sing and illustrate different compositions in that area.

I request that when lecdems are announced, the language in which they will be delivered should be stated.

This is not only for foreign duffers like me: so many Indians from other states come in December too.

Brainwaves for lec-dem topics:
Sound system failure mode analysis.
How many things can go wrong in the mike/speaker settings and what is the root cause analysis.
Tools for fixing issues real time.
Accompaniment vs main loudness level.
Hi Mid Lo Reverb Balance.
Electronic tambura and its effects on mike adjustments.
Crying shame: monitor misadjustments.
Should sabhas have mike system ratings given by audiences?
Loudness level and hearing impairment.
Voice culture vs noise culture.

Violin playing techniques remain a mystery for most of us - the simple rasikas. Let us have a LecDem by an exponent in violin playing like Sri Ganesh & Sri Kumaresh. Incidentally their LecDem in the Music Academy, during the last years season was brilliant.

When it comes to violin techniques, we can think of many outstanding exponents... IN addition to GK.

- Maybe one on "HarikathA", explaining the various intricacies of the art, its origin, its illustrious predecessors, Future for this diminishing divine art etc., . - By Shri. Kalyanapuram Aravamudhan. My choice being so, for he remains probably the only vidhwAn to practice this great art in its purest undiluted form.

Or Maybe on the Legacy of Shri. Embar Vijayaraghavachariar :: His role on taking HarikathA to prominence - By Shri. Kalyanapuram Aravamudhan or by Shri. B.M.Sundaram.

I like both SMT.Kamalamoorthy& Sri. Kalyanapuram A to cover this subject as the others mentioned are only so-so in my view. Also between them they can cover the subject best. YOU SHD. ask Prameela Gueumurthy to preside as her exellent Ph.D. THESISIS was this subject. VKV
