True. But the above பிள்ளைத்தமிழ் is by Meenakashi Sundaram piLLai. The one I quoted might be from the Kanthimathi piLLaith thamizh by Chokkanathar ( though I could not get his complete piLLaith thamizh poems anywhere to completely verify ). The Youtube rendering of this by an OthuvAr

and the comment below that Youtube suggests that this வாராதிருந்தால் viruththam is a popular one and is perhaps by Chokkanathar.

The beauty of the verse is its premise. If you don't come...If one doesn't come...look at the number of endearing things that follow that 'if you don't come', as if all these loving gestures can be carried out if one isn't there!
