The arrangement proposed by Sri Ravikiran is excellent as there exists a mechanism to collect and distribute funds.Inspite of time constraints,Sri Ravikiran is kind enough to offer the services.
I request you to finalize the method of accepting the donations for TAWF thru Sri Ravikiran's benevolent fund organisation.
Identified deserving tambora artists payment may be authorized to receive the payment from the TAWF wing of the benevolent fund.

Hold. CRK is exploring the possibility of MBF association. MBF in acceptance and CRK leadership, we have to transfer the funds and volunteer our services, on request. We have to decide on the alternative option, if MBF unable to associate.
If MBF accepts and CRK leads, we can explore the possibility of increasing the assistance to T.A.W. by conducting 'benefit' concert at all the important centers of Carnatic Music appreciation and funds raised through donor passes taken by the sponsors/patrons/event managers/rasikas.
I also wish and desire the association of KNS and Carnatica World

I am in discussion with Sri K.N.Sashikiran. It is very likely that Rasikas.org combining with Carnatica, the initiative would be Carnatica-Rasikas.org-T.A.W.F. The event will be part of the Bharat Sangeet Utsav in the month of November'14, at Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai. The idea to have a benefit fund raiser concert is under discussion. If the idea is accepted and the artist support, a benefit fund raiser concert will be held. Along with the funds transferred by rasikas.org, the proceeds from the benefit concert , after meeting expenses, will be the fund for the beneficiaries, duly selected and notified, in due course of time.
Please participate wholeheartedly and help the Tambura Artists, who are in need and rasikas support.

I just got one of the IFCM coordinators also to speak to Sashi about this and I think it's all in place now. Since he is likely to be in India till BSU Festival, it makes a lot of sense for rasikas and Carnatica do this together. I'm glad that this is going in the right direction and am sure that it will be a sustainable initiative!

With your and Sri KNS leadership, this initiative will be successful. The deadline for commitment of funds by the rasikas forumites 15th September,2014. On 16th September,2014, Sri Vasantakokilam will advise the final amount. I am in discussion with KNS. KNS will decide on the possibility of benefit fund raiser concert during BSU festival. KNS will advise the designated Bank account to which all the forumites can transfer the funds. Rest of the plan and execution, between both of you can be discussed and finalized. KNS will get the voluntary services from forumites, as he desires.
If you happen to be at Chennai, please do attend.

Rasikas.org is itself not a registered organisation.But this group is committed to the cause of carnatic music and i hope members will support the initiative for TAW.
Sri Rkris's statement that members are involved in personal capacity is not in the right spirit.Myself,Munirao and others who committed for this cause are doing this as part of Rasikas initiative.As this is purely voluntary,it is left to the individuals to contribute and participate.

This is a matter of legal identity and involvement. srkris has to look after such things. It's not the same as donating as an individual. Don't let us take that personally.

With the leadership of Sri CRK and Sri KNS, with good contribution from forumites, world wide, let us make it official. Official involvement will convey to the public and rasikas, who are not members of rasikas.org, a small niche group that Carnatic Music practitioners, event sponsors, patrons, media and rasikas together set yet another example of appreciation, commitment and contribution to a cause of Carnatic Music and together meeting the needs of the artists playing tambura, keeping the 'sruti'. The official association, even if a very limited numbers of forunites join the cause, will be assisting with sruti and maintain the pitch. The first initiative, meeting the success will remove the skepticism on activism. A renewed commitment for the many other causes in Carnatic Music, waiting to happen, will happen in the near future.
This initiative needs and deserves much more seriousness, commitment, participation and voluntary services by forunites. Sri VG, Sri CRK, Sri KNS, Smt.Kalpagam gestures are inspirational. Let us join them, in quick time to celebrate in the month of November, 2014.

Please inform the final commitment amount to-morrow, a sum total of commitments in private and public in this thread.
Also communicate with admin on the decision to make this initiative, official as Carnatica-Rasikas.org-T.A.W.F. If admin decides not to make this official, unfortunately, all the members who have committed will accept as the initiative of Carnatica-T.A.W.F. and transfer the funds to Carnatica, to the designated account, which will be informed soon.

As the fund collection is thru Ravikiran's benevolent fund but under a separate head TAWA - one need not restrict to one time contribution.Mr.govindan said Rs1000/ month.
If the method of contribution is well established,then this can be a continuous process.Of course if benefit concert is organised,the proceeds will add to that.

There is no legal issues or hassles, as this initiative is based on the funds transfer by the forumites directly in to the designated account of the registered organization. But when the initiative is official and is given the identity of rasikas.org, it will be motivating and inspiring. A small beginning and good commitment by few members of rasikas.org vindicates my observation and statement. With proven excellence and leadership of Sri KNS, success is guaranteed, allaying the fear of identity with uncertainty.

Our thanks to Ravikiran and Sashikaran for coming forward to help with the procedural aspects of disbursing the funds to the intended recipients and further helping earnestly with the fund raising efforts. That is pretty big indeed. And of course thanks Munirao for your tireless attention to this matter here and offline. Awesome.

Muniraso, hope you do not mind me starting a short discussion on the name. While what you have come up with is good, I would like a small tweak.

It is definitely true that srkris does not want this to be represented as an official rasikas.org initiative. It is also definitely true that this is an initiative started and nurtured by the members of rasikas.org ( I am including Sashikiran and Ravikiran as members of rasikas.org ). I would like that to be prominently reflected. Of course, Carnatica is playing a major role in administering the process and that need to be reflected. There are quite a few reasons as to why the name matters. The chief ones among them being a sense of identity that traces it back to its origin which has its own benefits too numerous to detail here and secondarily this shows that members of a web site like this can organize such things which will help in setting a precedent for other initiatives.

I am not speaking in any official capacity of this web site, but only as a member. So feel free to offer counter opinions if you do feel strongly about them.

One idea that comes to my mind is a main name and a sub-line ( like a by-line of an article ) that mentions the organizers and administrators.

I endorse Shri VK's suggestion i.e. to use the phrase "members of rasikas.org" which is more accurate than just saying "rasikas.org"

However we can debate on the merits and logistics of registering the group as a charity or society in a separate thread.

Without 'official' association and only few members participating, the intitiative is 'Carnatica Archival Center-T.A.W.F.' However in the write up being submitted to the press, a brief information is given about the rasikas.org and members commitment and contribution. Team leader Sri KNS will be briefly talking about the idea,commitment and contribution of rasikas.org and its members, with intention of motivating the rasikas of Carnatic Music, globally.
On the idea of rasikas.org registering as not-for-profit trust/foundation, I am not in favor. With trusts and foundations already established, admin can always consider 'officially' associating, with no legal compliance requirements. The need arises only, if the existing trusts/foundations are found wanting.
Establishing few organizations and institutions, with the support of all the stake holders, of international class and standards, making them meeting the complete requirements through mergers and acquisitions is the need of the present critical time in the history of Carnatic Music with the potentiality and possibility of global reach. One such development to be appreciated is K.F.A.C., a federation of ten Sabhas of eminence at Bengaluru. First successful outcome was conducting a national level competition 'Kalavanta' and winners getting to perform in all the sabhas of K.F.A.C. This lead and development must be considered in all the centers of Carnatic Music appreciation, nationally and internationally.

However, the correct code seems to be ORBC0101063
The highlighted character looks like 'O' (alphabet). But I think it should be '0' (figure).
My bank did not accept with 'O'. When I changed it to '0', it went through.
