Hi All,
I got an idea that seems interesting. We dont have a tradition of leading artists publishing memorial albums to pay tribute to their fellow artists who are no more.
It would be nice to see for example, some performing vidwans and vidushis of today to publish a memorial CD for Sri U.Shrinivas where they could perform ragas/kritis that he was known for, etc.
Sure, many dedicate their concert for a particular day, but why not memorial recordings as well?

Re: Memorial CDs
I have a CD of Bombay Jayashri which is a tribute to MS Amma.
I think Ravi Shankar has made a couple of tribute albums. Same with Shahid Pervez.
I can think of a few instrumentalists of today who could make a tribute album...
Lalgudi Krishnan
Ravi kiran
Jayanthi Kumaresh
J A Jayanth
Injukudi Subramanian..

I think this is a great idea.
I believe Sri Ravikiran is giving a tribute concert today in Los Angeles in memory of the departed maestro.

Re: Memorial CDs
I appeal to Parivadini to start their November series with this tribute concert.
I suggest they feature at least three instrumentalists who knew Shrinivas well.
The concert can be crowdsponsored and released as a You Tube video in HD.
Each musician performs for 45 min. Total 3 hours.
Thanks in advance!
