Sri Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao garu passes away

Post by vsarmaiitm »

One of the greatest gurus and a doyen from Dwaram school Sri Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao garu passed away in Visakhapatnam in the early hours of 18th October. Another nadayogi merged with para brahman. May his soul rest in peace.
For those who do not know, vidushis Smt Manda Sudharani and Smt Pantula Rama were his disciples

Sincere condolences.
I believe he was also the initial guru of Vidushi A. Kanyakumari.

Condolences to his family and sishya parampara . What a great guru he was in producing so many good musicians - a great loss to the music lovers and also for all the budding musicians from vizag belt.
I just googled to find him playing for varaali http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeIRcAbs_1I with his student sudha rani.

I am extremely sorry to know about the demise of a great teacher and performer. Smt.V.Kanyakumari was also his disciple. I had met this maestro and interacted with him at Vishakapatnam. I cherish those times and the discussions.

What an inspiring guru, and what shining students! Their very words and their own merits are testimony enough to his teaching.

It is indeed a significant loss to the music world. He was a quality artiste and a solid pillar of culture in the Vishakhapatnam area. He made a huge impact as a guru and performer. On a personal note, I have very warm memories of him accompanying me in my vocal concerts at Vizac and Vizianagaram when I was about 7 years old. I had a 103 degree fever in the latter concert but his wonderful accompaniment ensured that the 3-hour concert did not get adversely impacted. He accompanied my father also in an AIR concert and had us over for an excellent lunch at his house!
