Re: Kalavanta '14 winners & participants @Ranjani Fine Arts,
So good to see this!
Apoorva Krishna, we here in north america are very proud about.
I heard Vittal Rangan playing once for Sumitra Nitin and thought highly of him.
Akshay Anand is also known here by many for his playing.
Sumesh Narayanan--isn't he Sandeep's brother?
The flute duo, Hemanth and Heramba are to be congratulated too.
For a young sabhA, for all that you do, you are appreciated too!
Bengaluru is getting bigger in its carnatic music expression

Sumesh Narayanan is highly talented and I watched his playing in the finals of the SPIC-MACAY Naad-Bhed contest telecast by DD.
He received wholesome praise from all the Great Maestros and Gurus like Sri TNK, Smt.RV, Pandit Hariprasad Chourasiya and Smt.Parveen Sultana and their blessings.

Re: Kalavanta '14 winners & participants @Ranjani Fine Arts,
The twins are flautists of a very high calibre. Also, Apoorva when she plays solo is extremely melodious and perfect. In fact more than 90% of the artists who participated in Kalavanta 2013 performed very well. The credit for selecting the artists for Kalavanta should go to Sri.Krishna Prasad who is currently Chairman of Karnataka Fine Arts Council. Interestingly the instrumentalists, even out station ones, who participated are getting the lion's share of young artists' slots in Bangalore. That is really a good thing. The vocalists will probably soon catch up.
There is a lot of encouragement now for the young artists, which is very welcome. As for rasikas, there is a great support for the young artists, in principle. But that does not translate into people attending these concerts. That, I think, is sad. I hope that all rasikas who are free should attend these concerts as a mark of solidarity. Organisations like Ranjani which are doing an excellent job will also feel encouraged to continue with their cultural service to the community.

Re: Kalavanta '14 winners & participants @Ranjani Fine Arts,
Well said, KSSR sir, and thanks for your kind words. We trust that the Kalavanta videos give rasikas some idea of the high calibre of all these talented young artistes.kssr wrote: There is a lot of encouragement now for the young artists, which is very welcome. We warmly invite all rasikas, once again, to this evening's concerts and look forward to some great music, and an equally great turnout.
