Ganjam Flight of Fantasy Nov 21 and Nov 22

The Ganjam Flight of fantasy conducted by Ganjam House was off to a flying start with the first concert by Malladi Bros.
Accompaniments: M .Nagaraj - Violin K v Prasad - Mridangam G s Ramanujam - ghatam
Started with Jaya Jaya Swamin in Natai,followed by Suta Murare Suta,Reetigowla- Nanu Vidichi.Then an alapana in ramapriya followed by Matangi Sri Rajarajeshwari,Emayya Rama in Kambodi.The Bharavi item Upacharamu lanu was the main song had elaborate Neraval and swara prastana followed by excellent Tani by KV Prasad and Ramanujam.
Concert was rounded off with a few sanskrit slokas on Narasimha.
The violin accompaniment by Sri Nagaraj was excellent.
The second one by Ranjani and Gayatri was a bit on the high pitch side .The accompaniment was by M Rajeev on Violin,Mridangam- Delhi sairam Khanjira-Purushottam.

Arabi - O Rajeevaksha
Dwijawanthi- Akhilandeshwari

Bhairavi- Kollvaiyunnade kodanda
Bharavi was the main piece with Neraval,Swara and thani

Been there last 2 days and since running around with so many other loose ends to be tied up at personal front couldnt post

Malladi Brothers concert was initially marred by acoustic for the first half an hour or so. Bhairavi was top notch and the plethora of thukkadas followed in sahana,behag,chakravaham? (annamayya krithi) salaga bhairavi (sachidananda swami) sindhu bhairavi & hamir kalyani??.
Personally to me their last week concert at nAdasurabhi was better than this.

RaGa concert, acoustic got settled and i also felt little high in pitch. Another arabhi and bhairavi but Ambujam Krishna's kannada composition kadhiruvenu nanu worked out for me well.
The papanasam krithi was 'karpaga manohara' in malayamarutham.
Heavy turnout for this concert due their popularity as audience were sitting in footsteps and standing at aisle throughout the concert.

Veteran K V Prasad's thani in Malladi was lovely and the young talented leftist Delhi sairam and B S Purushotham gave another beautiful thani to standing ovation in RaGa's concert. M Rajeev on violin (guess Kanyakumari's disciple) excelled in both Ranjani and bhairavi alapanas.

Looking forward to Sanjay today to culminate the 10 month long Music Season in Bangalore.

I personally felt that Malladi Brothers concert was a very well balanced one with good accompaniments.This is in spite of the initial acoustic problems.Their voice is well tempered and generally very consistent.I could not attend their concert in Nadasurabhi.

Sanjay Subramanyam with his usual team of S Varadarajan,Neyveli Venkatesh with the addition of Guruprasanna on Kanchira concluded the series with a bang bang concert.
The concert had all the necessary elements including a fantastic RTP and several rare songs.

Sanjay's voice was not that good and as it was recently at Gayana Samaja.
The best was Narasimudu udainchudu. The Raga alapna did not blend fully to the famous MD composition ;
Then came Narasimudu. I do not know but for Mandolin Srinivas on his mandolin how many vocalist could handle this
style of composition. Mysore Sadasiva Kavi 's Saketha naganatha also has a duritha kaala but this is all duritha kala using the
stately Kamaalamanohari. It was as dramatic as the Lords appearance. Great presentation and justice to the composer.
Sadasiva Rao's handling shows his capability as Thygaraja can do to a Sahana.
Clarity in the words (for who care this more) pl excuse it is not possible at this speed. Watch the tempo (swara pattern) in kamalamanohari!!!
