I went late about 20 to 25 minutes late. Few pluses and many minuses of this concert
Pluses:
------
# I am listening to PV Parameswaran for the first time , the texture and his voice is very much like KJ yesudas. Voice certainly has power and most of the times has melody/sowkhyam.
# The kAnadA swaras and the pAvana guru in hamsanadam was sung quite well
# The team of accompanist were indeed wonderful. Particularly trichy murali who showed so much of controlled aggression. MAS took quite a bit of liberty in swara exchanges and he played well. KR ganesh had a lovely nadham and did pep up well
Minuses:
--------
# I had no idea about this musician wanted to hear him after I read the newspaper. I just happened to browse his website . One thing that caught my attention was that he learnt from KVN and TMT. I thought parameswaran would be a lovely amalgam of TMT and KVN - who have intense carnatic sathiyam in their music . But I did not even have an ounce of classicism along those two illustrious gurus.
# Sangathis were too light and there was not much of carnatic idioms .Aurally I could nerver map it as a classical concert .
# Depth was not there ,his music had too much of syllables that did not get blended as intense sangathis
# alapanas were just ok , it touched on the raga swaroopam yes - but quite superficial. He referring a big diary turning pages for every song just did not help.
# As I came out , i had a feel that The concert had more of a tv program feel where many songs came up from a tarangini devotional tape casette of KJ Yesudas.
Overall a mediocre to good concert .

Sabari malayil is from the Malayalam film Sabarimala Ayyappan in a lilting Anandabhairavi

I have heard this vidwan at the Thyagaraja Vidwat Samajam and he was quite classical there. The venue probably impacted the content of the concert.
