PARIVADINIS YOUNG BRIGADE_ AMAZING Akshay Padmanabhan,Akshay Ram and Apoorva Krishna.
WHAT a combination of these three today at Raga Sudha hall.Akshay ideally selected the krithis today and started off with a Shankarabharana varnam.While elsewhere in Mylapore Guruguhamirtha was giving away prizes to winners in rendering of Muthuswami Dikshitars Krithis,Akshay chose Suryamoorthe,one of Dikshitars Navagraha Krithis in Saurashtra in Chautusra Dhruva Tala.Dikshitars Navagraha Krithis are certain to cure Ailments that too arising out of Astrological reasons based on planetary movements.Muthuswamy Dikshitar had cured his disciples stomach ailment by invoking Jupiter (Brihaspathe) by composing and singing Brihaspathe in Atana.He followed this with krithis for all the nine planets.All the Krithis are based on Sampoorna Bhasanga ragas and cleverly and carefully set to different talas since time is the essence for movement for planets.Akshay rendered Suryamoorthe with absolute Bhava with perfect tala.
He continued with a fast tempo by choosing to sing sriranjani( Marubalka),followed by a Papanasam Sivan krithi’Kannnai pani maname’in Shanmukhapriya.
Madhyamavathi was splendidly presented by him as the main raga.a raga ideally suitable for elaboration and exploration.and Akshay just exploited it fully.The extensive Alapana is a testimony to his Asura Sathakam (though I can also vouch for his tireless sathakam,knowing him from childhood).And the Krithi “Rama katha Sudha’ suited him best.He poured life into each soul listening to him when he rendered this.Thiagaraja Swami says”rāma kathā sudhā rasa pānamoka rājyamu jēsunē “( To drink the nectarine juice of Rama's story is equal to (the rule of) a kingdom).Yes Akshay ruled the kingdom of Madhyamavathi today.
The superb support by Akshay Ram R who proved HIS MASTERs expertise today.Apporva Krishna handled the alapanas and swaras delightfully,though I personally feel she should have been showcased more today.
The TRIO won the hearts today.GOD BLESS THEM.
