Shri O S Thiyagarajan at R R Sabha Dakshnamoor

Post by bhaskaran19 »

Shri O S Thiyagarajan Vocal Concert at R R Sabha Dakshnamoorthy Auditorium[/img][/img], Chennai
Shri O S Thiyagarajan Vocal
Shri Thirumullaivayil Chandramouli – Violin
Shri Chennai S Thyagarajan – Mridangam
Shri H Sivaramakrishnan –Ghatam
Shri O S Thiyagarajan has taken his rasikas to vintage memory lane. Keep his name in mind he focused exclusively on Saint Thiyagaraja Krithis excepting for two songs in Tamil one on Lord Muruga composed by Guru Surajananda and the second one popular Kana Vendamo.: Papanasam Sivan – to maintain protocol of singing Tamil compositions (This could be because unfortunately Saint Thiyagaraja did not compose any song in Tamil)
He started of with energizing Atana , followed by a Kannadagowla. Then Kalyanai, Kaapi and Manoranjani followed quickly – all gems true to this class.
The real master piece was his shankaraabharaNam – wherein he showed his prowess in niraval tanuvu tānu kādaniyeñcu vāniki and went on to the extent of explaining (in between the concert) meaning.
His Kana Vendamo – rendered so brilliantly –the rasikas started imagining Nandanar Dhandapani Desikar in it.
Thirumullaivayil Chandramouli – Violin throughout the concert was just fantastic and the combination is made for each other.
Chennai S Thyagarajan – Mridangam and H Sivaramakrishnan –Ghatam “Thani” was pleasing and surprisingly none moved out during “Thani”
The Krithis of the evening were:
1)Baalakanakamaya - aThaaNaa
2)Orajupu chuchEDi nyaayamaa - kannaDagowLa
3)Isha pAhimAm - kalyANi
4)raamaa ragukula - kaapi
5)aTu kaaraadani - manOranjani
6)manasu svaadhinamaina - shankaraabharaNam
7)Muruganin marupeyar azhagu -Behag Guru Surajananda
8)Kana Vendamo.- Sri Ranjani.Papanasam Sivan;
