I attended the "NadaSri" title award function and the veena concert y'day.

There were speeches for nearly 90 Min.
1. SRI S. Krishnamurthy was the chief guest. He spoke of how Dr Visweswaran as a youngster had received encouragement from the maestro Veena Venkatagiriyappa (guru of Mysore Doreswamy Iyengar).
2. Dr. V. AMRUTHA has authored a lovely book on Mysore vainikas, including her father Veena Venkatagiriyappa and her guru Doreswamy Iyengar.
3. Dr Visweswaran was in a very happy mood after receiving his award.
4. Jayanthi Kumaresh mentioned how her guru Dr Balachander used to call Dr Visweswaran as his younger brother. She also mentioned how Dr V stands for the third e in entertainment-education-elevation as the three attributes of music.
5. Dr. V has composed nearly 150 kritis.
6. His concert featured
-Bowli- Sriranga Prabandha of Venkatamakhin
- Bhakta Traana dharmavati - own kriti in Dharamavati
- Maaye in the original Tarangini as per SSP. He played a brilliant alapana
- Yadukula Kambhoji swarajathi of SS
- Hamsanandi tillana
It was amply clear that Dr V is more suitable for lecdems and has a lot to share on the depths of Carnatic music. His favourite word is "gahana" which translates as profound.
Congrats to Bangalore Gayana Samaja and Fiddling Monk Kumaresh of Home Records for arranging this festival and recognising Dr Visweswaran.
