'தீபாவளித் திரு நாள்' பாட்டு எடுப்பாகவே இருக்கும். குழந்தைகளும் பாட ஏற்றது.

ஆனால், மத்யமாவதியின் கம்பீரத்திலோ, தீபாவளியின் கதையைச் சொல்வதிலோ, 'கண்ணா, காத்தருள்' பாடலை இவை மிஞ்சிடுமா, தெரியாது...

ராக பாவம் அர்த்த பாவம்
--- கல்கி ....

ராக பாவம், அர்த்த பாவம் என்னும் இரண்டு சொற்றொடர்களையும் பற்றிச் சிறிது கவனிக்கலாம். இவ்வாறு பிரிப்பதிலுள்ள தவறைப்பற்றி முன்பு ஒருமுறை குறிப்பிட்டேன். அது என்னவெனில், "அர்த்த பாவம்" என்று தனியாக ஒன்று சங்கீதத்தில் கிடையாது என்பதுதான். அர்த்த பாவத்தை மட்டும் அனுபவிப்பதற்கு நாம் டிக்கெட் வாங்கிக் கொண்டு சங்கீதக் கச்சேரிக்குப் போய்க் கூட்டத்தில் இடிபட்டு மூச்சுத் திணற வேண்டாம். நல்ல கவிதைப் புஸ்தகத்தைக் கையில் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு திறந்த வெளியில் உட்கார்ந்து படிக்கலாம்.

"பாவம்" என்று நான் தனிப்படச் சொல்லும் போது, சாஹித்யத்தின் அர்த்தத்துக்குப் பொருத்தமாய் ராகபாவம் அமைந்திருக்கும் பாட்டை, இவ்விரண்டு அம்சங்களும் தோன்றுமாறு உணர்ச்சியுடன் பாடும் திறமையையே குறிப்பிடுகிறேன்.

இத்தகைய பாவம் அமைந்த சங்கீதத்தைத்தான் பூரணமான சங்கீதம் என்று நான் சொல்கிறேன். நான் அறிந்தவரையில், நமது பூர்வீக சங்கீத ஆசிரியர்களுடைய கருத்தும் இதுவேயாகும். சங்கீதத்தின் மூன்று முக்கிய அம்சங்களையும் குறிப்பதற்கு "ராக-பாவ-தாளம்" என்ற சொற்றொடர் ஏற்பட்டிருப்பதே இதற்கு அத்தாட்சி. ராகம் அஸ்திவாரம்; தாளம் மேற்கூரை; பாவந்தான் இரண்டுக்கும் இடையில் வசிப்பதற்குரிய பாகம். சங்கீதத்துக்கு இந்த மூன்று அம்சங்களும் இன்றியமையாதவையே.

நான் பிள்ளையவர்களிடத்தில் பாடம் பெற்றுவந்த சமயத்தில் நடந்த ஒரு சுவையான சம்பவத்தை நான் மறக்கவே முடியாது. ஒரு நாள் ஸ்ரீ. பிள்ளையவர்கள் என்னிடம் எட்டணாவைக் கொடுத்து "ரவை வாங்கிக் கொண்டு வா தம்பி" என்று கூறினார். அவர் வாங்கி வரச் சொன்னது கோதுமை ரவை. ஆனால் எங்கள் ஊர் (திருச்செங்காட்டங்குடி) பக்கத்தில் கோதுவை ரவையை "ராவா" என்றும் கோலிக்குண்டுகளை ரவை என்றும் சொல்வது வழக்கம்.

ஆதலால் பிள்ளையவர்கள் 'ரவை' என்று சொன்னதால் 'எதற்காக எட்டணாவுக்குக் கோலிக்குண்டுகள் வாங்கிவரச் சொல்கிறார்' என்று ஆச்சரியப்பட்டுக் கொண்டே கடைவீதி சென்று பொட்டலம் நிறைய கோலிக்குண்டுகளை வாங்கிக் கொண்டு வந்து கொடுத்தேன். ஸ்ரீ பிள்ளையவர்கள் வெகுநாள் வரை இந்தச் சம்பவத்தைச் சொல்லிச் சொல்லிச் சிரிப்பதுண்டு.

அரியக்குடி ராமானுஜ ஐயங்காருக்குக் கணக்கிலடங்காத உருப்படிகள் பாடாந்தரம். எந்தவிதக் குறிப்பும் இல்லாமல் அவரால் எந்த நேரத்தில், எந்த கீர்த்தனையைப் பாடச் சொன்னாலும் பாட முடியும். அப்படியொரு அசாத்தியமான நினைவாற்றல்.

தேவகோட்டையில் தனவந்தரான செட்டியார் ஒருவர் திருப்பதி ஏழுமலையான் பக்தர். பரம ரசிகர். அந்தப் பகுதிக்கு எந்த சங்கீத வித்வான் வந்தாலும் தனது வீட்டில்தான் தங்க வேண்டும் என்று விரும்புவார். அவர்களுக்கு ராஜமரியாதை செய்யப்படும். தனது வீட்டில் நண்பர்களுக்காகத் தனிக் கச்சேரி ஏற்பாடு செய்வார். வெளிக்கச்சேரிக்குத் தரப்படும் சன்மானத்தைவிட அதிகமான சன்மானத்தை காலைஞர்களுக்கு வழங்கி ஆனந்தப்படுவார்.

தனது வீட்டில் நிகழ்ச்சி நடத்தும் வித்வான்களிடமெல்லாம் அவர் கோரிக்கை ஒன்றை வைப்பார். தனது இஷ்ட தெய்வமான வேங்கடாசலபதியைப் பற்றிய பாடல்களை மட்டுமே கையாண்டு முழுக் கச்சேரியும் செய்தால் இரட்டிப்பு சன்மானம் தருவேன் என்பார். யாருக்கும் அத்தனை பாடாந்தரம் இருக்காது என்பதால், உதட்டைப் பிதுக்கி விடுவார்கள்.

ஒருமுறை அரியக்குடி ராமானுஜ ஐயங்கார் வந்து தங்கி இருந்தபோது இதே வேண்டுகோளை வைத்தார் செட்டியார். "அதுக்கென்ன பேஷா பாடிட்டாப் போச்சு" என்றபடி முழுக் கச்சேரியையும் திருப்பதி பெருமாள் பற்றிய கீர்த்தனங்களை மட்டுமே கையாண்டு பாடிவிட்டார் ஐயங்கார்வாள்.

செட்டியாருக்கு சந்தோஷமோ சந்தோஷம். இரட்டிப்பு சன்மானம் வழங்கியது மட்டுமல்ல. அவரது ஆயுசுக்காலம் வரை, ஐயங்கார் சங்கீதம் மட்டும்தான் கேட்பது என்று விரதம் எடுத்தாற்போல வேறு யாருடைய கச்சேரியையும் கேட்காமலே இருந்துவிட்டாராம்.

Madurai T Venkatesan was the elder brother of Madurai T Srinivasan ( mrdangist + composer " karuNai dheivamE...)

I think only all the volumes of 'Garland' Rajagopalan may give all the details. I have heard Pozakkudi Bros...but don't know any details.

S V Parthasarathy the musician appears to be the older brother of reviewer SVK who passed away recently, going by the Hindu news report you have shared (writer SVV's sons, both)

There is almost a page and a half of information on S.V.Parthasarathy in vol 4 of "Garland". Briefly:
He is the the son of the prolific writer and advocate S.V.Vijayaraghavachariar and a brother of S.V.Soundararajan.
Did Sangitabhushanam at Annamalai U in 1938. Gave concerts with his brother.
Lecture at Annanamali U 1954-56, Producer of Karnatak music at AIR Trichy 1956-1978, Professor at Ann U 1985-88, Head of the department of music Ann U 1988-1990, Member-experts committee at Music Academy.
