Amrutha Venkatesh for Charsur, 18-12

Post by sureshvv »

Amrutha Venkatesh gave a wonderful memorable concert at the Narada Gana Sabha mini hall. The audience was most appreciative with extended applause after each item as the concert progressed.

Accompanists:

M.Rajeev
Arjun Ganesh
Dr. Kartik (G)

Song list:

1. Rama nannu brovura, Harikambodhi
2. Sarasa dala nayana (Swarajati), Todi, Mayuram Viswanatha Sastry
3. Kannada, Sri mathrubhutham
4. Hamsanadam, Paada vendumey, rupaka, MMDD
5. Charukesi, Krupaya palaya, NS @ Kuru me kushalam
6. Thani
7. Naam japan kyo chod diya, Madhuvanti?
8. Tillana, kamas, Patnam
9. Pavamana (Mangalam)

Personal Observations (YMMV):

1. Amrutha has a unique singing style

2. The todi swarajati is a great composition full of swaraksharas / swarasahitya. This is the 2nd time I am listening to it. Sanjay sang this in his Jaya TV special from a few years ago. It was presented very well and I have a feeling will become popular in future.

pADa vENDumE of D.Desikar is another song which Sanjay brought to light in one of his MMU concerts. Love that song.

Yes, agree with you. Amrutha has a unique singing style.

Love the way she sang every song be it in any language, carefully splitting the lyrics, keeping the lyrical beauty intact.
Her Charukesi alapana was rendered so splendidly, out of the world, really .... :ymapplause:
Have heard Voletti's "Naam japam kyon chod diya", thanks to Youtube, but hearing it live brought tears of joy and happiness connecting me with the supreme almighty which is what music should do.
My all time favourite musician ever....
