Abhishek Raghuram in Margazhi maha utsav

Margazhi Mahautsav 2014 concerts are being telecast in sun TV from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. since last monday. This time they are not in the same order fom 1st to 15th december.Abhishek raghuram s concert was on 4th dec. and it was telecast today morning.His theme was Tyagaragas.on that day he sang some Tyagaraja kritis in some rare ragas like dakka,vardhini,rasali etc.in which no one has composed it seems.it was a very good concert.but what we saw in sun TV today was entirely different.items were karthigeya in todi,a composition of lalgudi sir in nattakkurinji and a tiruppugazh etc.
Accompaniments were the same, audience was the same and one rasika spoke at the end saying it was nice experience listening to such ragas.but the songs were not the same he sang.
how can it be the telecast of the original programme .

Absolutely! With thyaga raaga as the theme, the list of songs seemed quite random... Esplly repeating the same song 'kandan seyal andro' in naatakurunji seemed so wrong. Since he sang the same song at MMU 2013 as well..wonder what fellow forumite subhasree has to say on this one.

I spoke to my dad who was in the audience that day. Apparently the recording of the concert didn't turn out to be telecast-quality; so I believe Abhishek gave SST and VKM a private audience - almost like a chamber concert, the recording of which along with some 'camera tricks' enabled them to pull it off ... !!!

what is the meaning of tyagaraga and what are the ragams that come under this?

The theme "thyagaraga" was appropriate because all the ragas chosen for the evening were those which have known compositions first created by Thyagaraja.

Vardhani, Rasali & Saramathi were explored at length.

It was unbelievably good.

He sang only Telugu songs.the sun tv insited it seems only Tamil songs.tamil songs were recorded seperatly.

I definitely owe an explanation.
we had a lot of tech issues due to the over crowding as a few audio cables were damaged during the event. Also, because it is in HD we have to adhere to a lot of tech specs laid by SUN TV.
we were actually planning for a second concert with audience, but considering Abhishek's tight season schedules, he requested the following recording to be a closed one. we are highly indebted to Abhishek for helping us in our crisis, and he had nothing to do about it.
There is a world TV viewing audience for Abhishek, and they should not be disappointed without Abhishek's performance, and thats the whole reason we redid a concert exclusively for telecast. Ans we did that we stuck to all Tamil, which was also easier for SUN TV norms.
But the Thyagaragas which was originally done in the venue is now all tech corrected, and will be uploaded in full soon on the internet.
There is no doubt that Thyagaragas was a brilliant presentation, and it will be made available to the world very very soon.

Dear Subhashree, your commitment is admirable. My day begins with a visit to Ragamalikatv to eagerly look for the announcement of the webcast.For owls like me, six in the morning is too early an hour. The webcast of concerts is going to be a fiesta.Till then,I listen or read what others have to say about the concerts.
