Sri.Ravikiran had been a student of Dr.R.K.Srikantan for over a decade. He is now under the tutelage of Sri.T.M.Krishna. He is passionate about the compositions of Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar. He has also started a trust Guruguhaamrta dedicated to the propagation of Dikshitar kritis. Ravikiran also conducts special workshops on Dikshitar compositions in several places in India and abroad. He has won National Level AIR music contest and Gayana Samaja Best Concert and many more. He is accompanied in this concert by a team of highly accomplished artists on violin, mridangam and ghatam.

The tidal wave of Chennai Season Concerts, their reviews, etc., is sweeping all of us off our feet-It is nonetheless an enjoyable experience.

The event started with kssr offering deep heartfelt condolences on the passing away of Brig. Narayanan. He choked up and everyone in the hall am sure had a lump in their throat. Brigadier's absence was felt by one and all - even folks like me who used to see him every time - but never spoke to him. He joined his wife Uma mami - who passed away 3 months back I believe. Listening to his deeds - from war with pakistan (a VSM awardee) to various charities and organizations apart from nadasurabhi - just made me think, a life well lived - a lesson to all of us (at least me) to think beyond self. Sir even donated his body for medical research. kssr aptly quoted a verse from Tirukural. Nadasurabhi does such a splendid job of organizing without much fuss (and talk) - I bow to giants such as the brigadier who are the pillars behind it.

It was nice to kssr back behind his camera Sorry, I had to leave due to a commitment. My heartfelt condolences to Nadasurabhi family.

Nice concert by Ravikiran and team. Believe he is in music full time now. I enjoyed the Kalyani and Kamboji in detail - and refreshing to hear new dikshitar's krithis - Krishnam bhajare and Bhaktavatsalam which is in praise of a Divya Kshetram near Tiruvarur.

What impressed me most about yesterday's concert was the imprint of a senior vidwan in everything that Ravikiran sang. Our music is all about manodharma. Ragam and swaram came easily to him for all ragams irrespective of whether they are standard time worn ones or new unpopular ones. His neravals, which IMO are the most difficult for young artists, were done brilliantly and with total ease. All three accompanying artists did an excellent job too.

Condolences thru you to Brigadier Narayanan family members . I recall seeing photographs of Brigadier. Let God give you and nadasurabi team more strength to carry out the sabha .

Hi All,
Shri Ravikiran certainly hasn't taken to music as a full time profession yet. He still has a full time job outside of music, which is what makes his musical efforts all the more admirable . To manage work, family, and music, the way he does, is absolutely stunning !
