Thanks for the link Aditto.

Sherthalai Sivakumar (Violin) and Sai Giridhar (Mridangam)

List:

1. Kedargowla varnam
2. Girijasuta (Shuddha bangala)
3. Budhamashrayami (Natakuranj, MD with Ragam and Swaram
4. Paramapavana (Poorvikalyani, PSI with R, S and N)
5. Sarasamukhi (Goudmalhar)
6. Garudadwani composition?
7. RTP in Andolika with Pallavi being
Andolika Vaadana Sanatana Parama pavana
8. Thillana (Bhagyashree)
9. Bayarani (Kapi)
10. Mangalam

A fabulous concert overall. It was full of "Raga/Tala/Bhava Soukhyam" in her concert. Sai Giridhar did a short but sweet Tani. Shertali seems to be under a bit of weather but otherwise was good. Really wonder why Smt. MS didn't find a slot in MA this year.

Small correction:
The tillana is in Ragesri
The Garudadhwani song is Ananda sagara of Tyagaraja - first time I am hearing it sung - I think there is a violin rendering by the Lalgudi siblings in the Naajevadhara LP?

narayan: Shri T. K. Rangachari had a penchant for garuDadhwani and used to sing this song. I'll try and dig up a recording for you.

Andolika could also mean a Palanquin. There is a Krithi of Swathi Thirunal starting with words 'Andolika vahane" in Ananda Bhairavi which is translated as by TK Govinda Rao as "The lord of the universe, SRI PADMANABHA glitters on the chariot ANDOLIKA VAHANA".

In the Sri padmanabha Swami temple's website I could find the following reference :
Alpasi Ulsavam
Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple celebrates bi-annual festivals in the months of Thulam (Alppasi) and Meenam(Painkuni). A function is conducted for according formal sanction to conduct the Ulsavam(festival).
4th day of Utsavam Pallakku Vahanam ( Pallakku - Palanquin, I assume this is what is mentioned as Andolika vahanam in the song).

The Garudadwani song " Ananda sagara" is popular with Nadaswaram vidwans. I remember a recording of Shiek Chinna Maulana.

Only a suggestion to the Violin artiste -
He has good musical ideas, has traditional approach to Music. He had tuned the Violin in the corresponding lower sruti, which was enhancing the concert. A small suggestion : But his bowing was harsh on that day. even while playing fast Swara passages, he was playing in the middle section of the bow, playing on the top quarter of the bow would have been better.

Overall it was a scholarly, good concert, in spite of slight voice problems.

I felt that too in the beginning ( listening to the youtube recording ) but did not know why. Thanks for the explanation. While it was a bit problematic in the varnam, it was not an issue with Girirajasudha, Either my ears got used to it by then or the credit goes to the sprightliness of Girirajasudha !! Probably the latter.

VK...the composition should be giri rAja sutA tanaya...the son (tanaya) of the daughter (sutA) of the king (rAja) of the mountains (giri).

andOlikA refers to the vAhana, wherein padmanAbha's icon is carried in a swing. The pallavi must indeed be inspired by the Utsava prabandha song in Anandabhairavi.

The 4th day of the Aipasi festival has the icon being carried in a palanquin, which is called a shibikA in SanskRt. This days utsava-prabandha is in a sombre mangaLakaisikA.

shibikA and andOlikA are near-synonyms. AndOlikA is more a swing (like dOlA), and shibikA or vainItaka are better terms for palanquin.
