Shashank at Hare Krishna Temple
The haunting, rain forest of a raga, Dharmavati, is gaining much currency on the concert stage. It is the “Plant a Tree, Grow a Forest” movement I think.
Shashank gave the audience a choice- Dharmavati, Ramapriya or Chandrajyoti. They chose Dharmavati. After a marvellous raga alapana, he asked them again to choose between an RTP and a song. They chose wisely the RTP, for his brilliance followed in the same vein as the alapana and he gave a spectacular RTP. The accompanists are unknown to me but did a good job.
Shashank got into a plethora of ragas from Ranjani to Gavati etc. in the swara raga malika. He gave me a treat I won’t ever forget. Long and vigorous applause before the tani from the audience.
