JAYASREE AND JAYARAJ KRISHNAN-RTP CONCERT

Post by CRama »

In the RTP series conducted by Saraswathi and Narada gana Sabha, the above veena couple presented the RTP on 24 Dec. I was waiting for long to hear a concert of them and so when I saw this notice, I jumped at it. Mannarkoil Balaji and Guruprasanna provided the accompaniments. The programme commenced with Mahaganapathim in Nata laced with a few bouts of swaras.

They chose raga Kharaharapriya for elaboration. The raga was presented with minute details in the sangathis by both the players and the tanam included Charukesi, Varali, Goraksh Kalyan and Hamsanandi. The pallavi was set in Chatusra triputa- 4 kalai The pallavi was composed by Chengalpattu Ranganathan Sir and on the names of the three Acharyas of Kanchi Mutt. The lines were
Chandirasekharendraya Jayendiraya Vijayendiraya Namaste
Kamakoti peedaya Namaste Namaste Namaste.

The sruti sudham, sunadam, manodharmam, vidwath all were commendable and the pallavi with eduppu at 1/8 was executed with precision with anulomam, pratilomam etc. The accompanists provided excellent support. There was a appreciative audience who enjoyed every minute of the 90 minutes programme. It was a showcase of their excellence. Sad that they do not have much slots in this music extravaganza happening in this Mecca of carnatic music. I am happy in meeting Arasi in the venue and both of us enjoyed the programme immensely.

crama,
Yes indeed :)
I'm sorry I mistook Trichy Murali for a Karnataka player and misinformed you :(

Balaji,
Our posts crossed. Saw you on stage twice in two days :) Your playing for J&J was so good. Look forward to the 6th when you will play for Suryaprakash...
