NR's voice reminded me of S. Sowmya at the start of the concert. The alapana in Kanada lingered more in the lower octaves but there were too many Kharaharapriya phrases for more liking in the first few minutes (but that may have been because I had just heard a main in Kharaharapriya in Bhavadhaarini Anantaraman's concert). These traces soon disappeared as she went into the higher octaves, but I did not really hear the Kharaharapriya at all in M. Rajeev's response on the violin which is to his credit. The krithi taken up was composed by G. N. Balasubramaniam, but NR very noticeably slipped up on the sahithyam at the start. Despite this, the composition was otherwise rendered very competently, and her adherance to shruthi was admirable. The swaras taken up at "Niramaye" were very pleasant, despite a lapse in shruthi in her last round of swaras. I really enjoyed R. Shankaranarayanan's strokes on the mridangam too. Wished I didn't miss the rest.

What followed was Keeravani - A tamil composition. FOr some reason, the live stream on Dinamalar was on/off for this concert. So couldn't hear anything afterwards. I hope to catchup with recordings.
