Jayanthi Kumaresh @ Prabhat 26/12/14

I was looking forward to hearing Jayanthi Kumaresh after a few years, but it was not to be. I will have to wait another year atleast now, since we leave tomorrow.

However Mudicondan Ramesh gave a very good veena recital accompanied by Narayanan Neyvelli.

He detailed a raga sketch before every piece and sang the pallavi and some other lines along. There is something about hearing a veena concert, and that too first thing in the morning, and that too in that quiet lamp-lit room. It was an experience.

MV, I'm so glad you made it to Prabhat Sangeetham! The ambience there is something else, isn't it?
My folks said that they saw someone who looked like you at the academy. So, I take it that you are enjoying the season.

Pity Jayanthi didn't play, but Mudicondan Ramesh is an excellent vainika and the atmosphere I'm sure would have brought out the best in his music. And Neyveli Narayanan's accompaniment for the acoustic music is stellar. It is very rare for them to feature accompanists at Prabhat.

Thanks to you Mahavishnu, I was determined to go to atleast one Prabhat concert this year. And yes, it was a highlight of this Season for me. Just heard a splendid Sanjay concert yesrerday-fitting end to my visit

I got up "early" to listen too MV this morning, and still miss most of her concert. I don't know if I'll make any 5.30 program, although I did get to one last year, and I agree that the oil-lap-lit experience is unique.

I think RKSK is playing there this year? I should make the effort, if not missed already
