For all the eulogizing of the style of certain musicians of today bringing back memories of the inimitable vidwan Shri. KVN, am not sure how many of you got to attend this brilliant concert. THIS was an example for me on how KVN's distinct style is preserved in all its entirety and brought out in all its glory, yet having an individualistic stamp all his own.

Absolutely brilliant rendition of each and every piece, the niravals, the kalpana swarams, all with a brilliant mix of melody interspersed with diverse mathematical patterns, which at no point in time compensated for the melody. Another distinct hallmark of Shri. KVN. Truly an unforgettable concert for me this season.

B. K. Raghu was competitive enough on the violin, supporting HVS quite well. Dr. Ashok (Son & disciple of Vid.Shri. K.S.Kalidas) played beautifully. His accompaniment, thani were all top class.

Geez... You missed the Keeravani RTP? It was the pick of the concert for me. Sagara shayana vibho after a slokam (shantaakaram) and Paras tillana were presented after RTP.

Srivatsan has assimilated Ariyakudi School & KVN's style very well. There are so many nuances in this school which put together makes it classically rich. I felt he could have avoided the slokam (just in one ragam Bagesree) & presented a Kannada song in its place either Kandu dhanyanaadey (Behag) or Mattada baradeno (Khamas).He has excellent Kannada pronunciation being his mother tongue.

This music is like watching G R Viswanath's elegance & class as against the pyrotechnics of Srikanth or Dhoni . No doubt Srikanth & Dhoni are match winners ( meaning great crowd pullers) but GRV is a class apart. Those who have watched him score 96 Not out at Chepalk in my school days against Andy Roberts & Co will understand what I mean.
