Request someone to post the meaning of the song. I know that the song is addressed to Sri GNBs kula deivam Sastha. But does anyone know which temple and location was Sri GNBs kula deivam. There are many Sastha kovils in Thirunelveli District. Sastha is also our Kula Deivam and am hoping to sing this song in my next visit to my kula deivam temple.

Re: Lyrics for Bhuvanathraya Sammohanakara
I rever ShAsta,His form enchanting the three worlds.[p]
Destroyer of the fear of the physical world.
His feet bestow the good luck of begetting progeny
for the devotees.
The incarnation of the union of Shiva and viShNu,
The refuge for the millions [of devotees] at Shabarigiri [a p]
the beautiful face,with lotus eyes, curly hair,{adorned with} the kasturi
tilakam,ear rings,
surpassing the brightness of millions of suns,unmatched,delicate.
Granting safety to the Shankham {conch shell} holding the bowl made of
precious gems,the bow,
riding the elephant, the peacock,moving with pUrNa {and} puShkala,His consorts.{c}
PS:: could not make out the word *apahanam* and *kusumacara*
Corrections welcome.

Re: Lyrics for Bhuvanathraya Sammohanakara
Smt. Savitri - in this kRti, Sri GNB invokes Lord SAstA not as a bachelor, but with his consorts pUrNa and pushkala - so I think that the last phrase should mean - one who moves/walks (gamanam) along with (sahita) pUrNa and pushkala dEvis.

Re: Lyrics for Bhuvanathraya Sammohanakara
Nice translation, Savitriji.
Some thhoughts :
nava jalajA bhayakara kusumacara maNIpAtra kArmukhEsu vahanam - I think this means
" Holding a conch, abhaya-hasta, flower arrows, gem-studded bowl, bow& arrows"
Dikshitar also refers to Shasta holding sugarcane bow and arrows.
I think in the last line it is "skandha" referring to the shoulder (we might say neck/back) of the elephant where he sits with his Devis.
Also, koti may mean the peak (of Shabari giri)

Thanks aaaaabbbbb for the meaning. Very useful.
I see the song has a lot of details on Sastha.
Divakara is Sun; is divasakara also sun??
What is the meaning of word apahanam??

Re: Lyrics for Bhuvanathraya Sammohanakara
Found that the word is *apaghanam*,not apahanam
*apaGhanam*::limbs {hands or feet}
*sukumAra apaGhanam*::delicate limbs.
In SrI Tygaraja swamy pancaratna kriti in nATa,
one of the caranas start with::
indranIlamaNi sanniBhApaGhana candrasUryanayana.

Re: Lyrics for Bhuvanathraya Sammohanakara
"apaghanam" it must be! Thanks Savitriji.
karmukeshu means bow and arrow, but I think it may actually be karmukekshu which means sugarcane bow. That would complete the kusumashara.
Also, I think nava-jalaja is probably "fresh lotus" not "fresh conch". I see him holding a lotus in some images when searching online. If it were conch, then discus would also have been said.

Thanks Rajani.
The word *apahanam* was on my mind when all of a sudden I remembered
*sanniBhApaGhana* and* nirAmayApaGhana*
and the rest followed.
We get to know so many more things than we ever expect.
Thanks to the pruccakas.

Re: Lyrics for Bhuvanathraya Sammohanakara
I read somewhere that this song is on Sri GNB's kula deivam and the temple is in Tanjore district. Unfortunately, I can't recall the exact town/village where this temple is located.HarishankarK wrote:Request someone to post the meaning of the song. Google shows 6 Sastha temples in Tanjore district.

Thanks everyone for the clarifications. I was confused between Mayavaram Sastha temple and Thirunelveli Sastha temple. Now am clear. But since the song is on Sastha i hope that i can be sung in any of the Sastha temples even Sabari Malai.

I think you can sing it anywhere - he is invoked as the one who grants refuge to the devotees at Sabari giri.

Just confirmed today that Sastha and Aiyyappan are same from Sri Papanasam Sivan's - Appan avataritta song - where he mentions 'Ayyappan' in Pallavi and 'thiru Sastha enum peyar udan' in the Karaharapriya song
