On 28-12-2014, in a panel discussion held at Chennai (I have the respective audio-recording), Vidushi Smt. Radha Bhaskar, while holding a key-role in the discussion, praised Chis. Ravikiran and Shashikiran, as “Maha-gurus’ for their yeoman service to our music. By this, I felt extremely happy and proud while they have attained this higher level of recognition as the sons of my beloved friend, Vidwan Shri Chitravina Narasimhan. At the same time I also felt that they both, as the knowledgeable and able persons, do the needful and act as the saviours of our poor aspirants. Keeping this only in view I take this opportunity to write this detailed post as they can properly understand my views and deeds as ‘Maha-gurus’ and honestly do the needful in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities either by following them honestly or even by condemning them constructively.
Till date all the failures in teaching pushed me towards conducting extensive experiments in this respect and as this is an evolution and it takes its own pace, I have very regularly been learning many new things mainly through all my students. Mostly I believe in giving the aspirants the knowledge of notation, intricacies of Gatis of Laya and oscillations of notes in making them able to learn compositions on their own and sing Swarakalpana and Ragalapana than merely making them sing a number of items.
Unlike in the traditional and elongated methods in teaching (singing) / learning (singing) our music in which the aspirant is compelled to mostly depend upon the teacher these novel methods in learning (singing on his/her own) music are very strictly based on logic and make the aspirant work independently on his/her own with minimum dependence upon the teacher. In this process, right from the first day of the music-lesson, the aspirant works hard for more than 90% on his/her own. In this system even an average aspirant becomes able to sing all the 9 select-varnas @ 4, 6 & 8-notes per each Kriya along with intricate mathematical Swarakalpana and brief Ragalapana even before learning the first Kriti on his/her own. The details of these methods are furnished in my book AMS-Easy Methods-2007 of which a copy of it was given long ago to Vidwan Shri Chitravina Narasimhan on 30-01-2012.
Starting from around 1st March, 2014 and attending the music-classes twice a week mostly by telephone and regularly practicing daily between 2 to 3 hours on her own my 13 year old great-grand-daughter, Chi. Padmaja, a school-going kid residing in Bangalore and studying 10th class, has since been learning and, now, within a span of 10 months, became able to sing the items mentioned above. In any of the classes I did never sing even for more than one minute.
Some of the urls of the respective audio-files are already furnished in 420th & 439th posts of the sub-thread, AMS Easy Methods-2007-Teaching & Learning of the main thread, Music school of this forum and the details of the remaining audio-files are going to be furnished within a few days for necessary verification. amsharma

Dear sister-member, radhabhaskar, Due to slight distortion of the audio-file I might have listened to it in that way. However, it certainly suits even to my beloved friend Vidwan Chitravina Shri Narasimhan having brought up even his sons to that high level. I wish to heartily congratulate him.
In fact, I am more anxious of solving the problems of our aspirants which have all along been overlooked by one and all. Highly talented musicians only can adjudge the merits or otherwise of my novel methods and I feel extremely happy if they do the needful in solving the genuine problems of our poor aspirants. amsharma
