It was an aural treat to listen to T M Krishna and party. His choice of ragas, compositions and the depths he was exploring in each of them was very fulfilling. Heard the sahana tyagaraja kriti for the first time.
The stage had elephant motifs and the music was steady, solid and had the majesty of the gait of an elephant. The accompanists contributed equally encouraged by Krishna.

Thank you, Sais72. EmAnaticevO is such a beautiful song. Haven't heard it since DKJ.

Nice list, sai. This venue is right in my neck of the woods, and I had no clue about the concert!
I doubt if there have been too many other expansive performances of kalanidhi; except maybe a 12-15 minute version with swaraprastara by the late, much lamented Nedanuri.
Voleti's emAnaticcEvo is a real treat.
Isn't the venue beleaguered by noises from the street? And that cage of birds kept near the stage?
Isn't the 'tamburist' Bhargavi H.K.Venkatram's daughter and a student of Krishna?

A common mistake along with 'emA ninne'. They're both entani nE and Emani nE respectively.enta ninne sabari

Keerthi, look in. They have a good line up including Ramakrishnan Murthy one of these days.
The couple of times I went in the past I found the temple too noisy and distracting for a concert.

I got the information about the 50 years celebration and music series of 50 days program from 'Kala Sinchana', a monthly music magazine of Ananya. The event managers should have secured the support of the media-print media, at least to publicize. I was expecting a huge turnout to TMK and reached the venue at 5 p.m.and was surprised to see only few rasikas and secured a comfortable seat in the very second row, behind the reserved and VIP seating in the front row. I could meet Sri Srikantam Nagendra Sastry, Sri Ramesh, Sri Chintalapalli Srinivas and also the performing artists and talk to them at leisure.
TMK and co artists Sri HKV and Sri CR gave a very memorable performance and KM rare and rich experience. Music was very high on values of both technical and aesthetic beauty. The internalized values of reverence of TMK on all the creative elements and aspects of KM were externalized very successfully. HKV with his personal relationship and association with TMK and his own seriousness for the higher values, enhanced the pleasure. CRao, surprised me with his skills of laya and also kalapramana and playing technique. I had heard him once before, playing very aggressively and self consciously. Raaga alapana-Taanam-Niraval-judicious use of svarakalpana, all revealing the Svaroopam of pristine pure form of KM, the very intent of TMK and delivery with the mastery of skills and experience. I realized that if the music is pristine pure with rich and high values, the form, structure and the order are no pre conditions, as they themselves are in perfect order. I did communicate with TMK, privately on my clarity and understanding.
On 'Ye Maanathichevo' Keertana, the patanthara is credited to Great Maestro Maharajapuram Vishwanatha Iyyer. Only few eminent Nagasvaram Vidwans were performing this keertana. SSRao, a disciple of MVI, learnt and popularized the composition. Nedunoori, Voleti, Srirangam Gopalaratnam, Annavarapu Ramaswamy had learnt this composition from SSRao, while he was serving AIR Vijayawada and later Madras. SSRao has sung this composition in his only recording by Sangeetha Recording Co-on the advice of Dr.BMK. At the end of the performance, I did mention the mistake of 'Emanchi navo' for the correct 'Ye menchi navo'. TMK knows the correct sahithya, but it was unintentional mistake only.
RSachi Sir, with the very location of the venue, lack of discipline of rasikas and poor sound system, it is noisy and distracting. Added to the problem was the event managers expectation of VVIP-Governor's arrival and constant changes being ordered for meeting the security requirements on the stage and in the front row seating arrangements. TMK and HKV too did get distracted but their sense of mind focused on the KM did not cause the problems. Even the below par sound system and its monitoring did not pose problems to the artists, with their total attention on the KM. This is the reality of value of chaste music effects!

You're right, Sri Munirao. Carnatic rasikas and musicians are able to filter out the distractions. But as organisers, I think there is a duty, even a sacred duty, to create the right ambiance.
I suspect the Nadajyothi Sabha have ALWAYS had their concerts there. So no complaints

Usually yes, but this concert was better. Expect the entire series to be better than their regular fare, they have high shamiana walls this time and the sound system seemed much better. The trick is to squat right in front of the artists and you are shielded from the temple hullabalookeerthi wrote:Nice list, sai. Yes to both. I noticed from the city events list that she sang at a nearby venue in Malleswaram. Looks like she joined after her concert.Isn't the 'tamburist' Bhargavi H.K.Venkatram's daughter and a student of Krishna?
