Just came to Madras for the season and decided to begin with G Ravikiran at brahma gana saba.
it was a relaxed and soothing concert - and a wonderful beginning to me for the season - most of which is filled with pyrotechnics.
the list i could jot down is here:
1. bhavanuta - mohanam (swarams)
2. chalamelara - margahindolam
3. tulasi jagajanani - saveri - r, neraval at 'charanam...', no swarams
4. devi brova - my pick of the day
5. gopanandana - sounded like vachaspati? - had the padmanaba mudrai - so i am guessing swati tirunal
6. my pick of the day and a great start to the season - suruti ragam followed by gitarthamu - r, neraval at "harivara....", swarams
7. tani avartanam
8. tillana
the pakkams were
m rajiv - violin
kallidaikurchi sivakumar - mridangam
and
kv gopalakrishnan - khanjira
great pakkams too - though i felt the mridangist had some challenge with his instrument - he kept trying to tune it throughout.
a nice solid start to my season.
more to come.
