Mrudanga: Arjun Kumar
Khanjira: Sundar Kumar (from the second kriti)

Song list
* Ananda natana prakasam, kedaram
* srivalli deva senapathe, nata bhairavi, R, S
* RTP - long alapana in kamach transitioning into vasantha and huseni, pallavi - "tirupati venkata ramana, sankata harana", pallavi and swaras in all the three ragas (~ 1.5 hrs)
* bhavani, sindhu bhairavi (bhajan)
* ni ri ni ri ga ma ga ri sa thillana, poorvi
* ni nama rupamunaku mangalam

Abhishek delivered an exuberant concert ably followed by H N Bhaskar. Abhishek interjected that he was bored of kamach after detailing it for a long time and would try to sing ragas that were close to it. The percussion duo contributed their might to the power packed concert.

Kamach is no where close to Vasantha or Huseini. Ragas close to Kamach will be Natta Kurunji, HariKamboji etc. etc, - and that would be confusing. I don't see what he mean't when he said that?

Didn't anyone in the audience say that they were bored too after listening to Khamas in most of his concerts? :lol:

That settles it then--an accord between the artiste and the audience :)

Still, charming kamAs isn't bored or distressed with musicians ignoring or babes mishandling it. It's quite happy, waiting for other musicians to pay attention to it :)

Any rAgam bereft of imagination will be boring.Normally I don't like poorvikalyANI\i.But I don't have complaints of listening that in the past 2 concerts last week;one from mallAdi srirAmprasad and the other by n.ravikiran.But thats about we the audience.But the artist himself getting bored !what shall I say ?

H.N.B may be a good artist.But he didn't turn up for TVS's concert yesterday citing traffic jam ! But yesterday being Sunday I couldn't see any jam .So TVS sang spiritedly for almost 1 hr.without violin and RKSRK stepped in later.

I feel Abhishek has used the term boring just in a jest. Because I have heard elaborate Khamas for a RTP from Abhishek once in Pallavi Durbar. And also heard Khamas as submain in a few concerts.

HNBhaskar not turning for a concert is very much unprofessional. This attitude should not crop up in such an early stage of one's career.

We expect from you the review of TVS concert.

Agree. Or, the OP may have misheard it. Abhishek has a special fondness for Khamas.

.

Mind you, the venue is in Bangalore. We should be only surprised if the artists and audience come on time to the venue :)

The violinist could have been stuck in a traffic jam, or perhaps could not leave on time from the starting point due to certain other compulsions !!

Bangalore is a place where you will take 3 hours to cover a 10 kms distance. I have expereinced myself several times !

True.
How come RKSK made it? When was he contacted? Was HNB travelling from Mysore? The highway is surely clogged on weekends.

That TVS concert which HNB missed must be in Chennai only. IIRC, yesterday, in NGS, there was TVS concert. And Ganeshkant is placed in Chennai.

My personal experience. I travelled from Marthahalli to Malleswaram with my 2 little daughters and 2 little nieces to visit a dear friend of mine. It took me 3 hours to reach and 2.5 hours to get back. And we spent 1 hours with a rushed dinner as my nieces had school the next day.

Since then I ask my friends to come to coimbatore to visit me when I am in town. That is much easier and efficient :) :)

@Ganeshkant
I join @CRama in requesting a review of the TVS concert. There have been no reviews of the veteran from the season either; he usually makes it extra special at the academy. Thanks in advance.

Yes it IS very unprofessional to not turn up at a concert citing traffic jam. But I was too surprised to hear one of the most leading violinists today blamed traffic jam and missed concert of a living legend like TVS! I learned from HNB himself that this was rather a miscommunication and that HE nevercited traffic jam. Don't know who did on his behalf. In fact he was playing a concert outside of Chennai, fixed a year back and advertised. I have followed this young guy's concerts since my Chennai days during 2001-2008 and I have only seen him be extremely professional and respectful of music and co-artistes. If he had silly attitude, why would he steadily come up and would be preferred by one and all today, starting from stars to veterans? He would have vanished from the circuit with that attitude.
Early stage of his career? :lol: Ask some musicians what stage of career he is in!!

Hnb and nagai Sriram are notorious for cancelling concerts at the last moment.closely followed by pona adi patri.
