SANGEET YATRA

Post by munirao2001 »

Shankara TV is telecasting Sangeet Yatra, a competition and opportunity for the talented young students of Karanataka Music. It is being telecast MON-FRI, 10 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. Sangeeta Kala Ratna Sri S.Shankar and Karnataka Kala Sri B.N.Chandramouli and Sri Cheluvaraju are the judges, till date.
Besides three other talented young students with great promise who had sung, yesterday was special. Ms.Samanvi sang 'Venu gaana loluni kana'-Rupaka-Kedaragowla-Thyagaraja, raaga aalaapana, niraval and svarakalpana. Later 'Thyagaraja yoga vaibhavam'-Anandabhairavi-Eka in the original kaalapramana of vilamba. Immensely talented Vidushee is in the making. At this very young age, she has achieved values of classicism. No scalar approach but with gamakam strength. Kedaragowla raaga aalapana, one of the best in the recent times I have heard, with all the aspects of aalaapana covered.
I missed out to know about her background, parents and Guru, both of them must receive a very high praise for nurturing the talent and helping her to attain the present standards. I wish and pray that this Vidushee receives all the encouragement and support to realize the full potential and achieve excellence, in the near future.

"Karnataka Music" doesn't answer VKR's question ! This term further confounds the discussion on "Carnatic Music vs Karnatic Music" discussed on another column.
