It is Ugadi time; it marks the calendar. It also marks time, personally, for all of us as we reminiscence on the fond souls with whom we spent many a time basking in their artistic merits.

We present to you Vid. Veena Doreswamy's 'farewell' concert in 'Parvathi', Mysore from 1997 at his grand age of 77. He passed away the same year. He is featured here with his son Vid. Balakrishna and Vidwans Cheluvaraj (Mridangam) and M'A. Krishnamurthy (Ghatam).

Thanks for drawing attention to the EXCELLENT concert of Veena Doreswamy Iyengar with an excellent review of our own RSachi. Actually there are FOUR CLASS ACTS IN THIS INSTANCE: Apart from Doreswamy Iyengar, cp blog team, RSachi (one of the CELEBRITIES I met thru' this Forum) & the one & only R.K.Narayan. What a GALAXY! I have spent lots of time w/D.I.,& R.K.Narayan who can play Veena quite well & learnt from D.I. As a matter of fact I had borrowed once a Veena (from a student of Kalpakam Mami-Sakuntala Narasimhan-) for him to practise Veena in my NYC Apt on 10th Floor in Manhattan!. While he was having enough food for his ears I was preparing my terrible meal for his stomach & proved the Tamil Proverb starting with "Sevikku Unavu Irukkum bodhu etc" which claimed who will care for food for stomach when food for ears is available. I promise this proverb came before anyone had tasted my cooking!....
I urge cpblog to let us hear one concert/2weeks so persons can re-live the GLORIOUS GOLDEN AGE OF CARNATIC MUSIC (as LGJ DEFINED) as it TRULY WAS. Thanks, VKV
