Re: INTERESTING VIDEO CLIPS
DEAR Mr. Nageswaran,
What a wonderful 20 min clip of Aruna Sayeeram! Thank you. Good video quality too, except for the 16:9 stretch.
From the quantity and style of hair on the percussionists' heads it looks like the video is about 10 years old.
Embar Kannan, J Vaidyanathan and Karthik are into the mood of the medley really well. Kannan is a high calibre, high commitment asset in any concert.
The prima donna Arunaa is resplendent in her mood. Nobody can hold a candle to her for carrying the audience along on a wonderful magic carpet journey. I would think she is first class material for a Carnatic "Mary Poppins". I don't care for high brow and low brow feelings here. I think her medley is wonderful.
When we are thinking of pop-Carnatic, jugalbandi, fusion, confusion etc., there should be no nakabandi for Arunaa.I feel the brand of music Arunaa gives has a rightful place. Just look at her audiences swaying.
The only thing is she is excursing into Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi territory ( not Kathakali or Mohiniattom yet
) and would render such forms of entertainment superfluous with her own "measured" histrionics.
I didn't have the mood for any Shehanai after that. The third link is still playing truant.
