Sorry, Arasi. I did not make any notes and my memory is not that good these days. However, I do remember his unusual Pallavi lines :
" veeNayadi nee enakku, mEvum viral nAn unakku" in his Bhavapriya RTP.

Thanks!
Those are Bharathi's lines from the kaNNammA pATTu: pAyumoLi nI enakku, pArkkum vizi nAnunakku.

Yes, those are from Mahakavi Bharathi. But this is the first time I heard these lines as "pallavi". வல்லவனுக்கு புல்லும் ஆயுதம் ! I have listened to the whole song rendered by MahArAjapuram SanthAnam. As Tiger VaradAchAri said, any sentence that makes sense can be a pallavi, to quote him "கத்தரிக்காய் விற்பவளே வீசை என்ன விலை?"

Yes, but a line from bhArathi, any from tirukkuraL, adds more to the bhAvam content of an oft repeated single line of words. It doesn't have to be a nAmAvali line all the time (which I don't deny work the best for kaNakku vazhakku filled ones).

Arasi Madam, I reproduce the review of the same concert I posted in this forum earlier.

List of songs.
Varnam-Kalyani-Adi talam
Mahaganapathim-Nata-MD (S)
Marugelara-Jayanthasree-T
Samodam paripalaya- Ramapriya-ST(R,N,S)
Enna punniyam seydeno-Reethigowla- OVK
Manavyala-Nalinakanthi-T (S)
Mohanarama-Mohanam-T (R,S)
RTP-Bhavapriya _Khanta triputa
Slokam-Vande matharam (started in maund)

Three alapanas – Ramapriya, Mohanam and Bhavapriya were rendered very elaborately. Bhavapriya and Mohanam took 15 minutes each. I am very happy at the selection of songs- Ramapriya alapana is very rare and the song of ST is rarely heard in Chennai. (Gayathri Girish rendered it once). SP gave me respite from PK. Mohanam - I was longing to hear as main song.

Bhavapriya- we had lengthy discussions about this ragam and now SP has rendered it excellently – with the gowravam a RTP deserves. The pallavi was from Bharathiar’s song
Veenayadi nee enakku mevum viral naan unakku.
All the parts- alapana, neraval, thanam, trikalam all were presented well. The entire exercise took 40 minutes- this is answer to the discussion going on in another thread. IN the ragamalika session, Sama, Kanada, Behag and one more ragam were sung.

Pakkavadyam proved that they are pukkaa vadyams. HNB raga alapanas and returns were appropriate. Mudhra Bhaskar and C.Sarma embellished the concert well and their thani was energetic and well appreciated.

Ramakrishnan,
Thank you for taking the trouble to make this post. Sorry, I had missed reading your earlier review. Anyhow, VKV has started a special thread on the stars (and stars in the making) who deserve more appreciation, Suryaprakash being one of them. I think Suryaprakash is going to get more attention from rasikAs who have not heard him so far.

My only reservation in saying any more about him is: he is one of the few vocalists who has shown any interest in singing any of my compositions over the years. Recently, he has also done an excellent job of voicing my songs in my fourth CD. The same with Gayathri Girish. And no, I'm not playing favoritism...

Getting to know him more with our collaboration, I realize his merits much more. As a rule, anyone who hears him in a concert comes home with the satisfaction of having listened to an excellent and lively fare. What's more, he is getting better than ever, and is brimming with ideas.

That Bhavapriya would have been so nice to have listened to!

Dear Arasi,
SURYAPRAKASH & GAYATRI GIRISH are the TWO MUSICIANS who freely&readily AGREED to TAILOR A PROGRAM for MMI 2012 birthday centenary celebrations when I TRIED reaching today's leading artists. THEIR STELLAR CONCERTS ELEVATED THE MMI Celebrations in CHENNAI & CLEVELAND. I CONGRAGULATE THEM FOR THEIR VIDWAT AS WELL AS THEIR DEPTH & KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CELEBRATING OUR GREATS....VKV
