Kutcheris.com

Post by Nick H »

I have not been able to access kutcheris.com. It has carried very few listings since the end of this last season, but, last month I was able to add the Ragasudha Hall events to my calendar from there.

It has been a wonderful guide to concerts in Chennai (and even elsewhere too). I hope Ram and friends have not given it up. It would be much missed all year, but I really don't know how I can face December without it! :(

Has anyone contacted Ram about it?
I get the feeling that the website registration has probably not been renewed/updated. So, the site host has probably taken it down. It still shows up in searches.

Oh! The guy from sholinganallur? :)

Yes: there is a whole heap of world culture that has passed me by, as I never was much of a movie watcher, and have not often turned on the TV in a couple of decades

At last, found a kindred spirit. Haven't opened the idiot box for years. Not that I claim any superior intellect. If you are glued to the computer you cannot be away from the 'whole heap of world culture'. Anyway, I enjoy reading your posts , especially about Amirtha's concert. A wonderful concert indeed.

Oh yes... I am glued to the computer. It is my source of information, quite a lot of my social life, and and entertainment too, except that doesn't include the stuff that I would be seeing on the TV.

Please check http://musicrux.com/events . We plan to keep it up to date throughout the year.

Feedback on the site most welcome.

Please make the listings functionality equivalent to (or even the same as, because it worked well) the old site. The new format is not going to be a success, particularly at busy times of the year. People (me at least) do not want to page through a hundred or more concerts at five or six items per page: even The Hindu, on paper, is easier than that!

The other functionality in Kutcheris, com like following artist, organisation, location, etc, was all really good, especially with the mobile app. The only thing missing would be some sort of desktop/mobile/multi-device integration.

Also, consider your probable audience: if they have got as far as your site, they know what carnatic music is: there is no need to take up space telling them!

I would say, it was a great listings site, keep it as it was --- but if you really want to include other stuff, like learning music, then, at least, restore the listings section to its previous functionality. Before December! :D
