Another Tyagaraja song?

There is a song varadarAja pAhimAm in mOhana at the Sangeethepriya website sung by B.V.Raman & B.V.Lakshmanan. Any more information on this?

This one isn't found in any of the major oral traditions, nor in the manuscripts we have seen so far. It can safely be labeled as 'doubtful/ unknown provenance'.

There is another such on ranganAtha [ranganAyaka raksimpumayya] in SankarAbharaNam, that the redoubtable RangarAmanuja Iyengar included in his compilation. That song too belongs to the same category.

Ditto for the sAma song sung by B.S.Rajaiyengar. This seems to be composed a ranga gIte [Drama song] by some devotee of tyAgarAja.

notation for the kriti Varadaraja pahimam was published in Sudesamitran magazine by Sr. PB. Srinivasan (if Im not wrong). He says in the footnote that he learnt this kruti from Kanchipuram Sri Nayana pillai and this does not find its mention in any of the standard books.

Kanchipuram Naina Pillai WAS KNOWN FOR NOT REPEATING ANY OF THE THYAGARAJA KRITIS IN HIS LONG LIST OF CONCERTS! S.Rajam had the COMPLETE LIST OF HIS RENDERINGS BUT I was not smart enough to copy them down!....Regret it.....VKV
