Birmingham Mayor launches British Carnatic Choir

ShruthiUK officially launched the British Carnatic Choir at the Birmignham Chamber of Commerce on the 12th of June 2015. The launch was inaugurated by sangeet Samrat Chitravina N Ravikiran and was followed by a Symposium on 'Melody,Harmony and Melharmony' featuring eminent panellists such as Ashanti Omkar of BBC Asian Network,London, Dr.Eliot Bates,Lecturer in Ethnomusicology, Universitiy of Birmingham and Maestro Chitravina Ravikiran. The event was attended by the Consul General of India, J.K.Sharma, Deputy Lord Lieutenent of the West Midlands, Satinder Kaur Taunque, OBE and other esteemed guests and the media.

Objectives of BCC
Aims to create and explore the choral singing in South Indian Classical Music approach South Indian Classical Music from a different perspective that showcases similarities between Carnatic,Western and world Music while embracing the distinction between them
Provide opportunities for singers of all ability and levels to perform and present Carnatic Choir repertoire of pristine quality.

BCC Vision

Encourage and inspire children, amateurs and older people across the country though quality music education and develop artistic excellence in Choral music concerts in the Carnatic style.
The first BCC event will be held on the 7th of November 2015 in Birmingham.
