Priya Sisters Enthral Dubai !

First of all, I really wish a detailed review of this concert is posted here by some knowledgeable rasika. I shall try to describe it somehow. This is the first time Priya sisters are performing in Dubai and we all are eager to see them come here in the future too. To begin with, Kudos to all the four artistes for being on stage before hand, doing an audio check, patiently explaining the mike and audio problems to the emirates hall staff. Patiently they repeatedly requested the staff to reduce the volume and increase the volume of the mike where necessary without losing their composure.

After the initial adjustments done, there was no stopping the musicians. It was 2 and half hours of pure music raining in Dubai. The accompanists supported the vocalists very well. The hall was full till the end, the crowd consisting of south Indians of all ages, applauding and showing their appreciation with thunderous claps. Here is the concert list.

6. PAlintuvo PAlimpavo-----KAntAmani-----Tyagaraja (Aalaapana)
7. Raagam Tanam Pallavi. This was the show stealer with a superb rendition by the sisters. there was a flurry of raagams. saaveri, thodi, nalinakaanthi and one more. lyrics were Sharavanai Muruganai Guhanai.

Sadly, I had to leave after this song. Another two songs were sung after this and the concert had ended. I really hope some other rasika pitches in to share about this wonderful concert. Dubai Rasikas couldnt have asked for more. For all, it was a musical treat from the dedicated Priya Sisters and all were enthralled to the core. This is a concert which will stay in our hearts forever. Personally I was transported to Chennai seeing the four musicians and the level of dedication they had put in this concert. Thanks to Priya Sisters and the accompanists. Dubai Music Lovers were left dazzled.

A 'priyamAna', detailed review from the heart from you, Priya! We only need the addition of the tukkaDA items. As you say, a good ensemble.

I haven't heard the sisters in a live concert, but have heard many clips of theirs. They seem highly professional, intelligent and they can handle rAgAs imaginatively. Their lists have varied interesting songs too.

Got info that RTP was in Todi.. Though u have mentioned the ragamalika swaras and the starting line of pallavi..
They are known for singing wonderful pallavis . I guess this must have been a long pallavi line....
Hope we get know their post RTP kritis.. They would have definitely sung a composition of Saint Annamacharya....

Thank you Priyaram for the review which reveals how passionate you are about the sisters and how deeply you enjoyed their concert. Yes. I have also enjoyed their many concerts. Hope you will be in Chennai in Dec to enjoy more music.

Thanks to Priyaram for the review on Priya Sisters concert in Dubai. I have heard the Sisters in Florida and saw that they are very proffessional. They are also Rasika oriented and try to please the Rasikas. I still remember their singing The Lingashatakam when I asked for it.
Now we have somebody from Dubai to review the concerts. Happy to see how our CM is spreading all over the world!

Thanks Maduraimini. Just wanted to say actually there are many rasikas in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other parts of UAE but very few are members of rasikas.org dont know the reason why they are not here. Yes. And concerts are arranged often too. In Abu Dhabi, few hours away from Dubai, few concerts were held. But no reviews here. I try to attend concerts if I am able to go with family commitments to take care of, and if they are in Dubai, but Priya Sisters was one concert I just didnt want to miss. Highly Professional, they sing, in one voice, with so much bhaavam. And yes rasika oriented. Here in Dubai too few chits of paper containing requests from rasikas were given to the organiser ! And after the concert which ended late at 10.30 pm I saw the photographs of sisters in FB obliging for photographs with rasikas. One friend told me The sisters were exhausted but they couldnt disappoint their rasikas even at 11.40 pm. Thats their humility and regard for rasikas.

Maduraimini will be very happy to hear this. She tries to make it to any corner of Florida if she can, so that she can listen to a live concert--thanks to her friends and family...

She also makes requests, many musicians oblige and she's delighted.

She hasn't read some of your reviews from Dubai (she might have read your Chennai season reviews). I am glad she did ask you about Dubai concerts because I didn't know that there is a wider circle of rasikAs in various venues there...

Also good to know that Priya sisters are very audience-friendly.
