Even though this is not directly relating to music or any musician I thought it fit to share in this forum. Today, 13 June, Mudhra inaugurated its week long Drama Festival in the Infosys Hall, Ramakrishna Mission School, Bazulla Road in which it honoured S. Ve. Shekher, the famous drama cum cine actor with Nataka Mudhra Award. A very touching incident happened during the function.
S. Ve. Shekher was given a cash prize of Rs.10000. While accepting the cash prize, he mentioned about the impact of the film KAKKA MUTTAI and had immense appreciation of the film, its director and the children who acted in it. He said that the film will be highly successful if dubbed or remade in any language. Immediately he announced that this cash prize along with Rs.15000 from his own Trust, he is donating for the education of the children from the slum who showcased excellent acting in the film. The money was handed over to Mr. Manikantan, the director of the film and he was requested to look after their education. The children (six of them) and director were honoured during the function along with the advice to the children that they should continue their education and come to a high level in society and should not be carried away by the laurels of the first film they acted. He promised further assistance to them for the same purpose.
Even though I have read about his philanthropic activities, I was very much touched by this incident. MAY HIS TRIBE INCREASE.

What a nice gesture! I have seen a few old movies of SVSekhar and loved his comedy. Good to see that besides being a great artist he is also a philanthropist.

Let him be a role model for others in the field, who have money to burn, to emulate.
