"Green" Pallavi Darbar 2015— Abhishek & RKM

Just tuned into the live webcast of RKM with a splendid Varadu doing tanam in what seems to me to be Sriraga after exploring raga - KHP....i request the experts to write a detailed review for my and others' benefit after this dwiraga RTP.

Y'day it was Abhishek with HNB, UKS and Sundarkumar. I missed the livecast and the YT archive has only a fraction of the impeccable action (Shankarabharanam as a tribute to paramaguru SSI and also the maestro UKS as I heard..)

Noticed Pallavi Darbar has gone green with a huge Wimbledon grass like backdrop..

I noticed both HMB and Varadu doing a huge value add in the tanam...

Request detailed reviews from CRama or anyone else (of the centre court action) willing to oblige. Please.

Watched RKM pallavi in the YT. It is a dwi raga RTP- Kharaharapriya and Sri- both 22nd melakartha and 22nd raganga ragam(asampoorna melam). It is a difficult exercise as the swarams are overlapping. But he did it very nicely- never compromising on aesthetics. The glide from one ragam to another in alapana, tanam etc were very smooth. The talam was Chatusra jhampai- misra nadai. Ragamalika swaras were in ragas ending in sri and ragas ending in priya alternatively- like Vijayasree, Malavasree, Rishabhapariya, Natakapriya etc. Sabash RKM.

I find that RKM loves to sing the final swara chain with all the ragas in reverse order.
The entire RTP was very melodious with the violin and mridangam sounds adding to the beauty of the music he presented. I find RKM going from strength to strength.

A similar RTP was done by Amrita Murali in the last season Academy I think.

I could make out this pallavi is on Devi Sita. Can anyone please post the meaning of this pallavi? Also please give the meaning of Kara Hara Priyaam in the context of the pallavi?

Yesterday we all listened to this and none of us could pin-point the meaning of the phrase Kara Hara Priyaam.

Kshitijaa is one born of the earth; janaka tanayaa is daughter of Janaka; kamalaananaa is one whose face is like lotus; kharahara was Rama who killed Khara; kharaharapriyaa is one who is dear to Rama.

Perhaps triggered by my comment in the post #1 here, KN Shashikiran y'day at the Dr. Rama concert stated they had taken the green backdrop as it was the Wimbledon season!!!! (watch 1:51 spot in the YT video..total length 1:58)

I just listened to this Pallavi concert of KHP and Shree ragam of RKM. Nice combination of ragas with lovely lines . RKM gave a very lovely spread of madhyama kalam- certain sangathis oozed with so much sowkhyam .What i missed from RKM is little more tara sthayi shoots especially KHP sangathis where his throat could have cleared bit more (if AC was there possibly we could have got more khara kharappu, thank god the hall was not AC ). May be i am still in few haunting tara sthayi shoots that abhishek sang in shankarabharanam which i am yet to take out of my head. Also RKM's swaras could have been bit more for me to continue to have the same zing as before- it just did not register that well with Arun not really running that fast with RKM.

Varadu was fantastic- he gives so much raga bhava azhuttam -he is always a matchwinner. .

I agree RKM is going strength to strength surely in madhyama kalam. Thanks especially to RKSK for his lovely pallavi - it is so good especially for a rasika who enjoys the cluster of melakartha #22. Keep it going carnatica team
