Ranjani Fine Arts' Guru Utsava 2015 : July 11th

Ranjani Fine Arts warmly invites you to its annual special programme: "Guru Utsava 2015", on Saturday, July 11th, 2015. During the course of this day-long event, we will celebrate Guru Poornima with a series of half-hour performances by several Carnatic and Hindustani Music teachers, and pay respects to all Gurus - past, present and future!

Entry is free. Do join us in the celebrations.

10.00 am : Inauguration by Sri.N.S.Krishnamoorthy, former Director, AIR
10.30 am onwards: Performances by music gurus

Venue: Sobha Lakeview Club, off Outer Ring Road, Bellandur, Bengaluru

It was very heartening to know about this a new and very rare initiative of this scale, the celebration of 'Guru Utsava', who are mostly ignored by the event managers/Sabhas. I request you to plan every year this event. But, select Gurus and giving them a minimum of One and half a hour concert duration time.
Arvind Sir, Why not have 'Guru Utsava' as a event of KFAC ?

I was there in the event. It is a very novel and well thought out event from RFA point of view. Heartiest congratulations to the organisers.

However, the real value and benefit of such an event can be obtained only if the respective gurus can enthuse their sishyas to attend the full programme , listen to not only their guru but also other gurus and learn musical tips from them. Also, parents who are eager to see their children "perform" in prestigious platforms are not at all enthusiastic about encouraging their children to listen to good music. As the saying goes "one can only take the horse to the pond; but cannot force them to drink water". I see many parents and relatives consider their children to be "Child prodigies". I can only wish that they are all correct. It will be good for CM.
