A few days back, while driving - I heard a wonderful Simmendra Madhyamam on Dilruba by Vid. KJ Jose. I have not heard about this artist before. Nor have I heard anyone play carnatic music in Dilruba. can anyone throw more light on this artist and his whereabouts?

Re: Dilruba in Carnatic Music
Angamaali K Jose hailing from Kerala was perhaps the only artist to play CM in Dilruba. He was with AIR Trichy for a long period. He was a composer too for light music. The Simhenramadhyamam recording is occasionally aired.
The tone of the instrument (though less melancholic than Saarangi) probably didn't go well with CM and Jose remained rather unknown but contended with his job.

Re: Dilruba in Carnatic Music
Where would we be without thr greats like Varsha, Venkatakailasam and SPriya!
I am hearing Charukeshi. No doubt it is plaintive but musically it is quite expressive. Perhaps such artistes should find a place at least in film/popular music arrangements.
And again, what an impactful the violin has taken in CM limelight!
Thanks Ram flagging this topic
The SPriya 27 min track has Charukeshi, Lalithapanchamam and even Pantuvarali...
