CUTCHERY COMPETITION OF MUDHRA

MUDHRA had announced a CUTCHERY COMPETITION FOR EMERGING VIDWANS AND VIDUSHIS in the age group of 18-25 and invited entries through CDs of LIVE CONCERTS . This had very good response from the budding musicians and MUDHRA received 72 CDs in the category of vocal, violin accompaniment and mridangam accompaniment. A seven member team (I was also one in the team) sat for five days, heard the CDs and selected 30 participants - 10 in each category -by evaluating on various parameters. These musicians are invited to perform live concert of two hours in Mudhra Recording Studio before a panel of three judges. The concerts are also webcast and identified judges sitting in various parts of India and abroad will be evaluating the performances. The webcast commences on 4 July at 6.30 PM and will continue for 10 days. The webcast can be viewed by all in paalam.in/tv.

One contestant in each category will be awarded the title SANGEETHA MUDHRA and a cash prize and also will get a slot in the Annual December Music Festival 2015.

If you are established you get Bhakthi sangeet utsav where 10 to 15 numbers are sung in 90 minutes where CM is resembling radha kalyanam bhajanai dolotsavam . This is much better Mudhra - I am glad you are giving 2 hours atleast for those to be soon " make it big "musicians. Best wishes.

Mudhra has announced the results of the CUTCHERY COMPETITION. The following Young artists are the winners of SANGEETHA MUDHRA AWARD 2015.

1. VOCAL – ANAHITA RAVINDRAN & APOORVA RAVINDRAN
(Dis. of Ravikiran)

2. VIOLIN – APOORVA KRISHNA(Dis. of Srimathi Brahmanandam & Anuradha Sridhar)

3. MRIDANGAM – N.C. BHARADWAJ (Dis. of Umayalpuram Sivaraman)

The winners will be awarded the title”SANGEETHA MUDHRA”, cash prize and also a Prime slot during Mudhra's December Music Festival 2015. The Best Vocal performer will get a cash award and also be accompanied by some top artists for their concert. Similarly, the winners as best accompaniments will get to accompany a top artist in the Mudhra Music Fest.

I have heard most of the youngsters. All very talented, dedicated youngsters and they all need to be commended

Sahana Samraj, whom we have heard at Cleveland the past two years is someone we have to keep in mind as one of tomorrow's crop of front liners. She is Suguna Varadachari's student. She comes from a lineage of nagaswaram veterans.

Venkat Nagarajan is Tiruchi Ambujam Vedantham's student. Doing his research,very busy, but his music is very important to him.

Apoorva is well-known here, of course! She's from the US. For the love of her playing the violin, and to learn more, she is now living in India.

Mudhra has to be commended for its actively encouraging youngsters and in propagating CM with many events which also reach the young--both in shaping them as performers and rasikAs.

Mudhra Bhaskar and Radha Bhaskar,

Yet another very good and much needed initiative. KFAC'S, Kalavanta and Mudhra's initiatives are to be followed in all the Karnataka Sangeetham Music appreciation center's and event managers of all the Sabhas must resolve to give the winners and other very good participants opportunities to perform and support them to pursue and achieve great success as performers and practitioners. All the winners have already won recognition as highly talented performers and practitioners.
